How often do you have to change turtle aquarium gravel?
Not necessarily 'change' it - but certainly clean it regularly. As a cleansing product - I swear by 'Milton Fluid' (the stuff you sterilize baby bottles with). Once a week, wash the gravel in a solution of half a cap of Milton to two gallons of water. Let the gravel sit in the water for at least an hourto allow time for the fluid to work. Rinse the gravel thoroughly in clean water at least three times - to get rid of any Milton residue.
Leave the gravel to dry for a couple of hours before you put it back in the cage. One option would be to have another quantity of gravel already cleaned so you can 'swap' it over instead of having to wait for it to dry.

What is more expensive a hamster or a turtle?
It cost more to get a turtle all set up, but then they do not need a lot. They will need food, but they do not eat a lot. They do not use bedding or anything, just rocks and water.
Hamsters are cheaper to buy, but then they have to be kept up. They need new bedding and food pretty regular.
Can you put a betta fish in the same tank with a water turtle?
I woulda thought the turtle would EAT, or even snap at the fish.... Male Bettas are just too flashy and they'll capture the attention of pretty much any aquatic turtle. Just too yummy a treat to pass up. However, if you introduce a very young turtle to a school of small fast fish (white clouds, guppies, danios) chances are some will survive to the turtles adulthood and then remain safe companions. Only young turtles are true meat eaters. Adult aquatic turtles are herbivores. No, not if you have a water turtle. They love live food and will eat live worms and live fish. Unless your turtle is old, dont do it. When water turtles are old. They prefer to eat plants instead of meat. Don't even try! My friend had a turtle a and had a load of Goldfish in the same bowl, they seemed to be living happily when one day- he just ate them all up!!! We were all devastated but, the turtle seemed to be fine! I'm not sure about the goldfish though...!
How much gravel does a 55 gallon aquarium need?
It all depends on the "bio-load" of your tank - Bio-Load is the waste created by the fish and waste removed by the good bacteria in your filter.
If there is only a small amount of fish producing waste you should be safe with a fortnightly gravel vac
If there is a heavy bio-load (10-15 fish) you should be doing part water changes and vacs weekly.
All depends on what waste is produced and removed.

Can fish live with turtles in a fish tank?
No doubt they can live in a fish tank but it will certainly not do the fish any good. Turtles poo and piddle in the water and putrefy it making it deadly for fish to live in. They also bite chunks out of unwary fish. Please use your brains and don't try to mix Amphibians with fish. It can not and will not work in an enclosed aquarium.
Yes, but they are normally only a small incidental part of their diet if at all.
Yes, but its not usually in their diet, but they do eat crabs and mollusks

"Don't buy one. All huffy bikes are recycled peices of china's glory (junk) the steel or aluminum made by huffy hasn't been properly welded or prepared which makes the frames hazardous."
Sounds like you don't own one or know much about these.
I own seven of these and they are ridden extremely hard by me, my three sons, their buddies, my scout troop, the scouts at powwow each summer (about 700 of them at this four day event) plus the teens at the local skatepark plus, the ABA BMX Grandnationals for the last two years where they were ridden by 1500 people again over four days each time. I would say as somebody who owns and rides this product and has for 8 years now that these are pretty solid. I did manage to break two frames due to fatigue after 7 years of the described heavy use and abuse (read extreme use) but re welded them and they are back in action.
Huffy contracts a manufacturer and has their name put on them- much the same as the bike company Giant manufactures frames for many competitor brands and then decals them with the customers brand name hence huffy doesn't manufacture but specifies the product details and then has it manufactured by various manufacturers. As for the Slider-some of the parts come from the same company's that brands like Haro, GT, and Redline spec there parts from. Oh yes- these brands are manufactured completely in Asia also.
Those white things are poop or a your turtle could have a desease and possibly if you have a boy and girl turtle together it could be a baby forming.
Try This.Instead of giving your turtle food everyday or whenever you do.Buy it live feeder fish then pour them in the tank.So the turtle gets the option to eat whenever it wants to.
Eastern Painted Turtles LOVE sliced hard boiled eggs. Especially females and babies. Just don't give it to them too often or let them gorge themselves to the puking point. They are also crazy about turtle pellets, live feeder fish, small snails, tiny tadpoles, and aquatic plants. Although I haven't given to my Easties yet, I have heard that, every once in a while, you can give them raw ground beef, cooked chicken, and soggy dog food.

In captivity, they shouldn't hibernate if they are kept indoors because their body senses that it is still warm and it is not the time to hibernate.
