How many aortic arches does a earthworm have?
aortic arches is another term for heart, and an earthworm has 5.
What predators feed on earthworms?
The three animals that feed on worms are birds, lizards, and frogs.
Flat warts tend to grow in great numbers and are smaller and smoother than other warts. They can erupt anywhere
Why are earthworms valuable to a farmers?
Earthworms play an important role in the creation of healthy, productive "living" soils. Without them, we couldn't eat vegetables and fruits!! Or even breathe! Because they help trees!
The early ancestors of the earthworms were partly responsible for ending the global ice age billions of years ago. The relentless burrowing deep in the ocean floor, where the wastes & fossils of organisms accumulated within the sediments, spawned the recycling of carbon nutrients and the formation of carbon dioxide gas. The collective release of CO2 into the Earth's atmosphere generated a greenhouse effect which inevitably warmed the planet to habitable temperatures for later descendants.
Why are earthworms good to environment?
it helps soil. the soil will be a lot more healthyer and have noutrients
Earthworms eat organic roots, leaves and other animals. In one day, they can eat one third of their body weight.
What is the biggest earth worm?
what is a super LARGE earthworm A giant earthworm (Oligochaete) refers to either of two types of earthworms found only in Queensland, Australia. One (Terriswalkeris terraereginae) is a luminescent blue color and can grow to be about 6 feet long and the other (Megascolides austraiis) looks like an earthworm, but can grow to about 10 feet in length. A big earthworm is another type of worm which in my case I would stay away from because they could hurt you!
How many hearts does a nightcrawler have?
If your talking about the comic book character, then no Kurt doesn't have any children. But there are alternate versions of him form other dimension that do. One version of Nightcrawler from the X-Men: The End series has two children. Other version of Kurt has a daughter who calls herself Nocturne, who is associated with a group called Exiles.
Hope this helps :)
Why is it said that the earthworm has a closed circulatory system?
It only has one flow of blood.
We have two flows of blood, one for the lungs and one for the body. This also means the worm will only have two heart chambers while you have four.
P.S. This is the third question on circulation i have answered today, is this someone typing in all their homework questions?
What has a head a tail is brown but has no legs?
A boy was at a carnival and went to a booth where a man said to the boy, "If I write your exact weight on this piece of paper then you have to give me $50, but if I cannot, I will pay you $50." The boy looked around and saw no scale so he agrees, thinking no matter what the carny writes he'll just say he weighs more or less. In the end the boy ended up paying the man $50. How did the man win the bet?
How do earthworms sense the environment around them?
If you poke a worm, it wriggles. The poke is the stimulus and the wriggling is the reaction. Also, a worm moves away from light and moves to a moister area in the ground.
it depends what type of earthworm it is. The typical North American or European worm is 20cm. However the giant Gippsland earthworm, Megascolides australis, of Australia averages 100 cm long and 2 cm in diameter and can reach 3 m in length.
How do earthworms help the Earth?
Common earthworms burrow deep below the surface. In burrowing, worms swallow large quantities of earth that often contain vegetable remains. They are able to digest the nutritive matter of the soil, casting out the remains. The casts excreted from the worm's digestive system make the soil more fertile. The earthworm's burrowing action continually moves mineral-rich soil to the surface, and improves drainage by aerating the soil.
What does the gizzard do in a earth worm?
Well, since earthworms dont have teeth the have this sack behind the mouth that squezes tightly then contracts over and over. Basicly it chews the food for the worm. Birds do it to but they also hold the chewed food in the gizzard for the baby birds
I have corrected this best I could
Equipment and Supplies
The materials needed to start a worm bin are simple and inexpensive. All you will need are a bin, bedding, water, earthworms and food.
Worm Bin.
A suitable bin can be a plastic container. Most stores sell containers that are sufficient. Since earthworms prefer darkness, a box that isn't clear or translucent is preferred. The container should be thoroughly washed and rinsed before the earthworms and bedding are added. The bin size depends on the number of earthworms you plan to keep. The "rule of thumb" is approximately one square foot of surface area for 2,000 Red Wigglers or 1,000 European Nightcrawlers. The reason for this is that the earthworms require oxygen which is introduced from the surface. Many state that it is the volume of the bin that determines the quantity of worms that can be maintained, however this is not true.
A 5-gallon bucket like to those used for spackle, pickles or similar items can also be used. Many fast-food restaurants get items in them and would probably give you one if asked. You need one with a top.
After you have your bin, you should drill small holes (approximately 1/16 inch) around the sides, just below the top edge for aeration.
Bedding.
The most readily available material for use as earthworm bedding is peat moss. It can be purchased at any gardening supply center. The first step is to thoroughly soak it. Place it in a large container and add water while mixing it. You will find that peat can be quite difficult to soak. Be sure that you soak all of the peat, as it doesn't easily absorb water. It is preferable to let the peat soak at least overnight before moving to the next step.
An increasingly popular alternative to peat moss is coir bedding. Coir is coconut fiber. It is sold dry in most pet shops as reptile bedding. Sometimes it is available in brick form, sometimes packaged, always dry. Soak it as you would soak your peat moss bedding.
The ideal moisture content for earthworm bedding is approximately 60%. To achieve this, take hands full of your soaked peat or coir and "wring" it out by squeezing it. When only a couple drops of water is coming out, it is ready to add to your bin. Crumble it into the bin so that you don't end up with large "clumps". Continue until you have the bedding a depth of 6 to 7 inches. You are now ready to introduce your earthworms. It is advisable to have this done before you receive your worms. As soon as the earthworms are placed on the bedding, they will usually start to burrow to get away from the light.
Food and Feeding.
Healthy, fat earthworms are the result of feeding them a good diet. If your plans are to use them as food for fish or herps, it is of even more importance. The most convenient food is chicken mash, either chick starter or laying mash. Generally, the laying mash has a higher protein content. You can purchase it in small quantities at most feed stores or larger pet shops. Do not buy what is called "crumbles". What you need is the finest ground mash available.
Lightly sprinkle the mash on the top of the bedding. It is far better to put too little food than too much. You will soon learn what your earthworms will eat in a 24 hour period. Do not add additional food until what is there is completely gone. After feeding, lightly spray the food, which will allow your earthworms to easily consume it.
Some words of caution: If you plan to harvest some earthworms, do so before you feed. Never mix food into the bedding. It will cause a condition known as "protein poisoning" which is a build-up of acid within the bedding caused by the decomposition of the food. If you notice your earthworms dying, it will be a result of this condition. If you notice your earthworms dying, immediately remove them from the bedding and start with new. This will not be a problem if you underfeed rather than overfeed your earthworms and don't attempt to harvest with food in your bin.
General Maintenance
Do not keep your worm bin in direct sunlight. Although the earthworms can stand heat, this will cause excessive heat. Ideal locations are in your basement, closet or under your kitchen sink.
Every week or two, you should lightly toss the bedding, allowing the bedding at the bottom of your bin to be on the top. Since earthworms absorb oxygen through their bodies, this process allows sufficient oxygen to be throughout the bedding. If the earthworm bedding appears to be getting dry, lightly spray it.
You will soon discover that earthworms are extremely easy keepers and provide a endless supply of fishing bait or highly nutritional food for your herps, pond or aquarium fish.
How do earthworms digest food?
Yes, they do. This is because they have a mouth at one end, and an anus at the other, and the food/nutrients can only flow in one direction.
How can you find out if an earth worm eats soil or not?
By its cast or waste product. The cast can tell what the worm has been eating.
What is the function of an earthworms metanephridium?
In earthworm the organs of excretion are the nephridia. Each nephridium is a long tube which opens at one end in to the body cavity by a ciliated funnel, the nephrostome and at the other end to the outside body by an opening, the nephridiophore in the skin. the nephrostome of a nephridium in a segment lies in the segment next in front of it. The nitrogenous wastes, such as ammonia and urea are collected by nephrostome, dropped into the lumen of the nephridium which contracts rhythmically pushing the waste products outside the body for removal through the nephridiophore in the skin.
yes they have one heart that runs through a large part of it's body
Yes, it does. In broad daylight, birds are flying in the sky, looking for something to eat. The worm, because of this, hides in holes.( As you know that birds eat worms)
Also, worms can dry out quick in the sun and lose the moisture they have on their bodies that help them move around. So they also have to stay in holes underground where the dirt is moist, so they can move through the ground without a problem. It's our natural instinct to run from wildfire, and it is theirs to hide from the sun. We all have good reasons to be afraid or hide from something.
Hope this helped!

Earthworms live all over the world, there is no specific place they live in.
