With this one I would take off the front wheels and go through that way. Although, the more I think about it, with the C4 I think you can get to them from the engine bay. I am thinking of how I have done it for my C6! There is a vacuum line attached to the back of the headlight switch on the dash. When you pull the switch out to turn on the lights this allows vacuum to open the light doors through rubber vacuum lines. When you turn the lights off this cuts the vacuum to the lights and a spring opperates the doors and closes them.

The dimmer switch near/on the headlight switch is a potentiometer and it controls the dash light intensity, as well as manually turns on the interior lights at the high(bright) end.

I have a 1976 and I love the rubber bumpers and the Darth Vader curves of the car. Others like the chrome bumpers on the 1969's through 73's. Some less intelligent people seem to be drawn to the mid-eighties design. To each their own I suppose.

Depending on the vehicle type it colud be either a broken gear in the transmission, a broken cable or if the vehicle has an eletrical speddometer circiut it could have a bad connection.

Oooh! This question leaves many possible answers open. So many variables. Do you just want the "official" factory salesman answer for the car at time of sale? Which is probably something vague about being in the >150mph area. Plus I note you are much more likely to get solid answers for 1/4 mile drag acceleration times than for true top speed. Because true top speed is more about the following factors especially #1. (In general there a bunch of questions about how stock the car, all accessories, and maintenance are. Plus a bunch about the conditions of the speed test.) #1 How brave are you? All sorts of risk factors. Do you chicken out when safety issues go critical or keep you foot to the metal? Do you blow the engine to find out? #2 What is the speed rating of the tires? Stock tires can blow before the car tops out #3 What is the condition of the car in general? New? Or a rust bucket with prior collision damage to the frame? #4 How is your tune up? Recently and well done? Are you using stock or premium racing parts for things like spark plugs? #5 What is your fuel? #6 Is this a drag race with limited space to accelerate? #7 Is this a Bonnieville flats time test like situtation? Straight course with "unlimited" room to accelerate -- but with wind factors cancelled out by two way timed runs? #8 Is this an oval track race? Is it banked? #9 Is this an irregular course race with lots of curves, corners and variable road surfaces? #10 Is the speed measured uphill or downhill? #11 Is this a sustained speed test where engine part friction heating places limitation on performance? (This question will make a big difference.) #12 Is this a fuel limited race? (OK they exist but this is probably not in the spirit of the question and it goes towards the sustained speed idea) Or are you looking for the speed attained by some specific automotive review team? First let me say that braking system is a vital system that should never be short cut. I don't believe that a person should work on this system unless they are trained or have experience doing these type repairs. You can buy rebuilt calipers now so inexpensive many garages no longer do these type service at their shops.They prefer buy and install these items. Now with the answer.First you will remove the calipers and drain fliud from each caliper. Put plastic plugs on brake lines as not to lose fluid and introduce air in to Master Cylinder. Next push caliper pistons out of caliper bores and careful not to drop or scratch piston surface. Next remove old seals from caliper bores. Next clean bores with soapy water and brass brush.Next clean caliper pistons same way. Make sure all surface are dry and clean before assembly. Next use brake assembly lube to coat all surfaces in caliper bore and the surface of the pistons that are in the bore. Next place the new rubber seals in cailper bore with assembly lube and place dust boot on caliper piston. Insert piston into bore and push slow and even into bore until they reach bottom. Stretch dust boot over lip on cailper. You are now ready to reinstall and bleed brake system. Please heed my earlier warning if any doubt of you ability to perform this repair please take to a experience person for assistance.

Without removing any parts...Take a sprk-plug socket and install it on the spark plug. The end of a spark plug socket has a 1" hex on the end. Take a 1" box-end wrench and take them out a twist at a time. Make sure the engine is COLD prior to doing this, as the aluminum heads will be damaged if Warm or Hot. Pre-gap the plugs and install the compression gaskets, and then coat the threads of each plug with anti-seize compound. This keeps the dis-simular metals from reacting and causing damge to the heads, and also makes it much easier to remove later. The torque requirement for the L98 engine, on the plugs is 12 Ft. Lbs. Obviously, there is no room between the air conditioner compressor to get a torque wrench. If you install #6 and #8 first, with the aid of a torque wrench, you can get a rough idea what 12 Ft, Lbs. feels like. NOW YOU KNOW WHY THE DEALERS GET SO MUCH FOR THIS TUNE-UP!!! Good luck, and be very patient. I consider myself to be a fairly good mechanic, but I just did my '88 and it took about an hour and a half to do the plugs properly.
