It is located underneath the distributor rotor. It is fastened down with two screws in the distributor housing. For the best access to it you will need to remove the following: spark plug wires from the distributor cap (be sure to label them for correct re-installation), distributor cap and distributor rotor.

Chevrolet didn't make the Corvette in 1983.

The 1985 Chevrolet Corvette rocker arms will have an adjustment screw on top of each rocker arm. Turning the adjustment screw will change the height of the rocker arm.

== == Remove rocker arm covers. Crank the engine until piston #1 is at top dead center (TDC) and is in it's firing position. This is indicated when the mark on the harmonic balancer lines up with the center or "0" mark on the timing tab and the #1 valve is not moving as TDC is approached. You could also remove the distributor cap and verify that the rotor is pointing at or near plug #1. If the #1 valves move as the mark comes up to the timing tab, the engine is in #6 firing position and should be turned over one complete revolution. Now crank the engine one revolution until the pointer is again at TDC. This is the #6 firing position and the following valves may now be adjusted: * Exhaust valves 2,5,6 & 7 * Intake valves 3,4,6 & 8 Install rocker arm covers.

Your question is? Race? Depends on the corvette and the mustang. Most stock corvettes will beat most stock mustangs. I have a v6 mustang; I expect I would lose to almost all non-sick vettes, except maybe cornering. I can drive through winding roads perhaps faster than a certain percent of corvette drivers, and my mustang is better at corners than some older vettes.

You must have cruise control. The lower cable comes up from the transmission and fastens to the transducer. A shorter cable goes from there, through the firewall, and into the car. It slides on to the back of the speedo head and clips into place. The connections outside the car are pretty straightforward, there are nuts that you unscrew. Behind the dash is abit tricky if you have big hands. There is a locking device that you have to push with a finger while you grasp and pull the cable with the other hand. Match the new cables to the old ones before you install them. On the new cables pull out the inner drive cable and check that it has some light grease on it. Some come lubed, some don't. Also, put a little oil into the "bell" end of the short cable. This is the end that goes on to the speedo head. If you are successful at this go get yourself a steak dinner.

Most older GM headlight switches are removed by (diconnect battery) reaching under dash to the headlight switch and depressing the small release button at the top of the switch while pulling on the stem for the switch then unplug the wire harness. There is a stem nut behind the knob that fastens the assy to the dash surface.

Yes, I definitely agree with the "having to replace the entire panel" because the display on the climate control panel dies [been there]. I ended up having to go to the dealership for this replacement; otherwise, my usual Vette repair place of choice wouldn't be able to provide me with the same electrical part warranty that GM offers.

However, the problem that has plagued my Vette the most is that the power window regulator on the passenger side has been replaced on mine 1999 Vette twice now, once in 2003 and again in 2006, and I don't even have anyone sitting in the passenger seat most of the time! Which I have just noticed in the last few days that the passenger side window isn't going down again, so I'm wondering at this point, if this problem resurfaces every four years or so. If anyone else has had this problem on a 1999, I'd be interested in you sharing the details of your own experience with me...

Also, I had an issue with the hinge for the lid in the center console not opening and closing properly but replaced the hinge myself, and it's been fine ever since.

Your owners manual explains exactly how to do this. You put the parking brake lever to the floor and, while keeping your foot on the brake pedal to keep car from rolling after parking brake is released, push the button on lever all the way in and while keeping button pressed the whole time, pull up until you get the lever past the notch you locked it in to begin with. Then, without releasing the button, lower the lever all the way to the floor. If done correctly the park light WILL go off. Do not drive the car with this light on or else you will end up with major problems. Hope this helps.

Look at the blades of the fan. They are "slanted" one way or the other. They have a given pitch. The pitch and direction of rotation determine which way the air will move when the fan is on. Now that we agree on that, let's jump. Fans associated with a vehicle radiator are supposed to move air through the radiator in the same direction as air would flow when the vehicle is moving. They act with the moving air to help it move. They do not act against it. That's not smart. Fans in front of a radiator blow back through it. Fans behind a radiator "pull" air through the radiator. Think this through and it should become clear, it should make sense. It's simple physics.

If your fuses continue to blow then you may have the wrong size in the fuse. You should double check to make sure you have the fuses in the right slot and that the voltage is correct.

Is it easier to take off panel between wheels and engine?

It doesn't have a relay but a flasher under the dash.

Refer to your owner's manual on how to use the key ring remote to turn the horn alarm back on. If you already tried that and it still wont work, pop your hood. look down to your right, by the driver's side headlight. there is a black plastic piece that kind of looks like a snail's shell, round with a rectangular hole coming out of it. is there a wire connected to it? there should be one attached by a clip. if there isnt, see if the wire will stretch to the metal tab sticking out of that plastic piece. if it makes it by at least a half an inch, strip the wire of the rubber and bend the raw wire into the hole in the tab, and wrap electrical tape around the entire tab and make sure yo do it VERY TIGHTLY. it absolutely has to be water tight.

it has the same bolt pattern. the offset is a bit wide on the front. it will rub on your wheel wells. to fix this replace your front springs with stiff ones. maybe from a diesel el co.

In a Corvette or any other car the mixing of the oil and water is a sign of a blown head gasket and or a cracked head.

The L-82 engine option, a 350-cid small-block V8, was available in Corvettes made from model years 1973-1980. It was an "enhanced" version of the base L-48, and was rated in its first year at 250 hp net (at the rear axle). Horsepower ratings fell through the years to 230 in 1980.

This steady decline in output was a direct result of federal government intervention, primarily by the USEPA, and was caused by several measures adopted by that agency and imposed on carmakers during the 1970s. Specific to the Corvette, dual exhaust was abandoned after the 1974 model year as a cost-saving measure because of the new requirement for (extremely expensive) catalytic converters. Other USEPA-mandated measures, such as the installation of exhaust gas recirculators (EGRs, or "smog pumps") added mechanical loads to the L-82, reducing its net power output. And the imposition of "low-lead" (at first) and then unleaded gasoline required Chevrolet and all the other carmakers to redesign all engines to operate with lower compression ratios to allow for the lower octane ratings, thereby capping potential engine output.

Although I have heard about '81 Corvettes with L-82s in them, I've never seen one. Officially, Chevrolet offered only one engine option that year -- the L-81, a 190-hp mouse distinguished by featuring Corvette's only electronically controlled Quadrajet carburetor.
