The owners manual that came with the 87 Corvette states this (If you have one) the book says 219 to 245. Yep that seems high to me but that is what its says. The oil temperature usually runs about 20 degrees hotter than the water temp. My 87 water runs around 220 in winter to around 236 in summer traffic. I did install a secondary fan for heavy summer driving and turn it on around 229 degrees. My Vet. has about 53,000 miles on it.
Where is the fuel pump located on a 1986 corvette easy to replace?
It will be on the lower right(passenger) hand side of engine. Not hard to replace but can be hard to get at. Use a flare nut wrench to remove the gas line if a regular wrench slips. Just 2 bolts hold it into place. Install a new gasket, put some grease on the pushrod behind the pump to hold it up into motor and install new gasket, and pump with the two bolts. If pushrod does not move up into engine ,bump starter to nove the eccentric 1/2 turn then it will. Done. I hope this helps you. Mark
ok the only problem is, this location that Mark is talking about is for the carbureted engine,if the engine is fuel injected,the pump will be in the fuel tank and comes out the top of the tank where the fuel goes in.

On my 1985 Corvette it is located on the top side of the Air Conditioning Evaporator and Blower Motor housing, right side when looking towards the firewall. It has a 4 pin connector and 3 screws hold it to the housing, the resistor coils stick down into the housing to get cooling air. If it is defective or the contacts have corrosion it can cause the blower motor to operate only in the HIGH position. I had a problem where when we shut the car off the fan would continue to run on high speed. I cleaned the contacts on the connector and the fan operates properly now.
