Why does the battery in your 1984 corvette go dead?

My battery is going dead as the result of the fuel pump remaining on continuously. I current pull the fuse if I am going to be parked for than hour. I am looking for a schematic to be able to isolate the problem. The ECM controls the fuel pump through the fuel pump relay. When the key is first turned on without the engine running, the ECM will turn the fuel pump relay on for two seconds. This builds up the fuel pressure quickly. If the engine is not started within two seconds, the ECM will shut the fuel pump off and wait until the engine starts. As soon as the engine is cranked, the ECM will turn the relay on and run the fuel pump. It's possible that the ECM is defective or the relay is stuck. Un-plug the relay and see what happens. The relay is located in the engine compartment on the driver's side of the dash panel near the power brake booster assembly and has a 5-pin connector with the following wire colors: A (2) Red wires B (1) Black/White wire C (1) Dark Green/White wire D (1) Red wire E (1) Orange wire As a backup system to the fuel pump relay, the fuel pump can also be turned on by the oil pressure sender. The oil pressure sender has two circuits internally. One half of this sender is a normally-open switch that closes at about 4 psi (a normal cranking oil pressure) and remains closed while the engine is running. It should open when the engine is shut off. The other half of this sender is for the oil pressure indicator in the instrument cluster. So, if the fuel pump relay fails, the oil pressure sender will close and run the fuel pump. It is possible that the oil pressure sender is stuck in the closed position. You should disconnect it and see what happens. The oil pressure sender is located at the top rear of the engine. If the fuel pump continues to run with both the relay and the sender unit un-plugged, then the fuel pump it'self is the problem. Where do the timing marks need to be for a timing chain on a Chevy 350 when on number one firing position?

I just rebuilt a 350. when you install the gears the two dots have to allign, but for the #1 to be in the firing position the marks are opposite of each other. Every cam chain gear set is different but the easiest way to tell is to put the harmonnic balancer at 0 and see if both valve for the #1 cylinder are closed

Where is the blower motor resistor card located on a 1985 Corvette?

On my 1985 Corvette it is located on the top side of the Air Conditioning Evaporator and Blower Motor housing, right side when looking towards the firewall. It has a 4 pin connector and 3 screws hold it to the housing, the resistor coils stick down into the housing to get cooling air. If it is defective or the contacts have corrosion it can cause the blower motor to operate only in the HIGH position. I had a problem where when we shut the car off the fan would continue to run on high speed. I cleaned the contacts on the connector and the fan operates properly now.

Electric connection on 700r4 transmissions?

The only thing controlled by the cars computer on a TH700R4 is the lock-up. You will need this if you are towing, otherwise stay in OD(overdrive). The other wires are for the reverse lights. There is also a computer controlled version of the TH700R4 but is known as a 4L60e.

Does 4.8 gm motor have afm?

No, they do not. In 2010 they added VVT which gave a slight improvement in HP and flattened the torque curve nicely. I have a 2010 LS extended cab with the 4.8 and I love it. It still has the 4l60e, although I'd prefer the 6l80e that comes with the 5.3 and 6.2, but it's still a great truck. I consistently get much better mpg than what the EPA estimates are. I hear with the 5.3 with AFM your AFM works less with larger wheels/tires, because of the added mass moment of inertia they give you. For the Gen IV LS based motors, they are talking about AFM, dual VVT (seperate cams for intake and exhaust), and direct injection. That's for the trucks that are supposed to come out for the 2014 model year. That's about a year and a half out, so don't expect solid word on everything. It's getting about to the time they should start designing tooling for the factories to make the new trucks, so more solid word on the trucks should be out soon. Also, GM typically likes to introduce new LS based engines in the Corvettes. So for new corvette, expect to see a high-performance version of what you will see in the trucks. The trucks tend to have different intake manifolds and tuning to produce low end torque which ends up with a little less HP. That was a wordy answer, but that's what happens when a mechanical engineering student gets excited to answer your question. I'm an enginerd.

How do you install center console AC light 1980 Corvette?

I installed a light assembly off the lamp assembly wire under the radio, as I could not find a bulb receptacle for the S\HVAC controls. The upper light I could not make bright enough, the one on the top of the console. I tried a 11 watt 12 V bulb and was still too dim to see the controls. Rpb, 1980 Corvette owner
