How do you change the headlight in a Chrysler Crossfire?

-- Simply reach in, pop off the rubber cap to access the bulb. It's held in place with a little metal clasp which you can unclip once you've disconnected the bulb (Just pull on the connector). swap the bulbs over, clip the clasp back in and push the connector back on. Place rubber cap back on to keep the water out and you are ready to go!

** This is 100% accurate. The guy that tore the whole front of his car apart to change the bulb is a dumb dumb, or is visually impaired! Cheers to the second blokes good advice that I just reposted.

http://www.topix.com/forum/autos/chrysler-crossfire/TAK78RTDSL2KKSMSB

I just did this today, and it is a bear!! Trial and error gave me the following sequence:

1)Jack up and support front of car, remove both front tires.

2)Remove belly pan under engine.

3)Remove forward plastic part of inside fender, both sides.

4) Remove bumper cover and grille.

5) You did all of this just to access the 2 lower bolts holding the headlight bucket in!!! Believe me, there is no other way.

6)Remove those bolts and the 2 bolts on brackets holding top of headlight bucket

7)Wrestle bucket out, place on bench. Take careful note of how it came out!

8)Remove #10 Torx screws holding plate with lamp. You'll see the spring dingus holding the lamp to the plate. Best if you have a magnetic tipped torx driver or long skinny magnet.

9) Plug in new lamp

10) Reverse the whole procedure. Be careful with bumper cover! It is awkward and contains metal parts that will scratch your paint!

11)Thank me. It took me many hours in 95+ heat to figure this out, and as far as I can tell no one else has posted this info anywhere! It will take you about an hour and a half.

"I gotta tell you, I can't see why this is necessary. Simply reach in, pop off the rubber cap to access the bulb. It's held in place with a little metal clasp which you can unclip once you've disconnected the bulb (Just pull on the connector). swap the bulbs over, clip the clasp back in and push the connector back on. Place rubber cap back on to keep the water out and you are ready to go!

It's a little awkward as it is tucked in behind the front brace, but nothing that would make it necessary to start dismatling the front of your car!

I reckon on 5 minutes."

The question needs to be clarified...are you replacing a bulb or the entire headlight assembly? Entire headlight assembly requires dismantling.

What does P0730 mean on a Chrysler 300?

A P0730 code indicates a problem with the trans selecting the wrong gear which could be due to a number of causes/faults and in some cases, needs a new trans or rebuild. What year car? have you checked, changed or flushed the trans fluid ? I'd start with flushing the trans fluid if that has not been done already or at least check for low fluid level, external leaks, and also inspect the fluid to see if it's brown rather than pinkish/reddish , dirty or smells burnt which could indicate internal problems....if it has the Mercedes trans, there is no dipstick so have a dealer or shop inspect it.

"Possible causes

- Low transmission fluid level

- Dirty transmission fluid

- Shift solenoids

- Shift solenoids harness or connectors

- Transmission mechanical problems

- Transmission hydraulic control circuit

Tech notes

Start by inspecting the transmission fluid level and condition, and change fluid if necessary.

When is the code detected?

The TCM has detected that the transmission is trying to mechanically shift to a lower gear than intended

"Some of the 300's have a Mercedes trans and there was an issue of fluid leaking at the electrical connector. The problem with these how ever is there is no dip stick for you to check the fluid with. If this is the case with your 3oo, then go to the dealer and ask them to check the fluid level for you. They should do this for free."

.................

"The Mercedes trans is good, with the exception of that leak I mentioned. There is a dipstick tube with a cap on it. The dealer uses a special dip stick to check the fluid."

Location of evaporator drain hose Chrysler 300 m 1999?

Preferrably on a lift, look at the angled body sheet metal that would equate to the engine side of the passenger side floorboard. In a space almost impossible to access (behind (aft of) the right side exhaust downcomer pipe) is a boot/curved hose molding. THAT is your evaporator drain hose. Mine dissappeared and has been allowing condensate to enter the car (which smells terrible.....mold!). I just purchased (today) the hose molding from my local dealer ($11.50 + tax). Now I just have to figure out how to get my big "meat hooks" up into that small space????? The service manager overheard my purchase from the parts dept. and did offer to install it for me if I could leave the car for a couple hours for the exhaust to cool off. I'm going to try myself, but may have to let Chrysler do it for me.

How many o2 sensors in a Chrysler 300?

My cigarette lighter in my Chrysler 2000 300m has no power to it.where is the fuse located?

Solved! 1. Fuse box is located on the left side of the dashboard panel. Open left door to find it. It has an imprinted sign on it: "fuse accessl" 2. Remove the large plastic panel to expose the entire fuse box. 3. There is a map imprinted on the inside of the plastic panel. 4. The map shows the location of the "Lighter" fuse: it is a 15A fuse in slot location #8 located in the upper right corner of the panel. 5. Replace the fuse and you should be good to go! Chuck B. (April 2008)

How do you remove the battery for a Chrysler 300C?

The battery in the 300C is located in the TRUNK next to the spare tire, under the carpeted cover. It is in a clean, cool location and has a nice battery tray to sit in. Also, if your battery is dead, you will not be able to open the trunk with your remote. There is NO KEY LOCK for the trunk. You must open the back door, pull down the seat back and crawl into the trunk to reach the internal release handle. Pull it and the trunk is open. Then prop open the spare tire/battery access lid. Disconnect the terminals using a 3/8" wrench and pull them out of he way. Unscrew the battery clamp on the bottom of the battery using a 10mm socket wrench with a long extension. Set the clamp and screw aside. Release the battery strap surrounding the battery by pressing the clip forward and loosening the strap. Do not remove it, just loosen it. Pull the vent tube on the back top side of the battery and leave it hanging there. Carefully lift the battery up and out. Make sure your new battery has this vent tube! This is how your battery breathes, and without it, it can boil over and make a acidic mess inside your trunk! The new battery will have a plastic plug in the vent hole that must be removed so you can plug in the vent tube when you set it in the tray. Install the battery clamp securing the battery to the floor. Connect the positive (red) terminal. Connect the negative ground (black) terminal. Make sure the terminals are tight. Tighten up the battery strap. Try to wiggle the battery -- it should not move at all. Tug on the red and black battery cables to verify they are tight and secure. Snap on the red plastic cover over the red positive batter terminal to prevent anything metallic from shorting against it. Put the spare tire/battery cover back in place. Test the battery by starting the car. You will get all kinds of strange alarms on the instrument cluster, but they will clear after you stop and start the car several times. You're done!

How do you replace the heater control lights on a 2006 Chrysler 300?

Wife's, '06 Chrysler, 300 T... Heater controls no longer backlit... can't see the controls at nite; What to do? How do I get new bulbs... The dealer want $$$ to fix it... I'm told the avg. guy can't do it and you need to replace the entire module...

By the looks of the forums, I'm not the first one with this problem.

Well, the knobs and controls are backlit by (3) 14V, T1 ½ mini, wire terminal, lamps.

The lamps are soldered on a PC brd that has the temp and heater/air duct direction control.

With a little research, I found the lamps are made by Toshiba. OEM supplied only, you cant buy 'em... They have a 1000hr life... However, the folks at Bulb Town in FL (bulbtown.com) will sell you a T1 1/4 p/n #8640 or if you want to risk the tighter fit, T1 3/4. 14V, .08A #2162D... The bigger bulb worked for me.

Remove the bad bulbs and replace w/ new ones. Be careful with the dash and the soldering and you'll have lights back on your dash in about 40mins total. Lamps are .70 a PC plus shipping. I bought a couple extras, just in case.

Here's how... You gotta be careful with the dash and the plastic clips, they aren't all that tuff and can snap if your not subtle but gentle.

  1. Remove the (30 clim. control knobs. They are keyed and can't be removed unless you turn them all the way to the left before you pull.
  2. Remove the plastic "tray" from under the ashtray.
  3. Remove the ash tray. Then carefully pull the ashtray slide and bezel by a subtle wiggle and pull from the top. I lifted and pulled with one hand inside the ashtray. Don't pull to far cause the seat heater sw are connected to the bezel too. You can disconn, and remove the tray and bezel but you don't have to.
  4. At the top of the cavity left by the ashtray bezel us a screwdriver the loosen the clips securing the base of the entire center dash bezel which includes the clim. controls all the way up to the clock.
  5. Once free at the base, start working the rest of it free, up to the top. CAREFUL! There are retaining clips on the side, near the radio and at the top ctr.
  6. With the entire center bezel free press the retainer tab on the conns, for the clock and Haz flasher.
  7. Then remove the connectors for the clim. control... You've gotta squeeze the retainer tab to pull the connector free.
  8. The conn. for the fan control has a look as well and it's a real pain. You need to work the red lock free before you can remove the connector. A jewelers screwdriver or a flattened coat hanger wire will work to free the key. Then just remove the fan control conn and take the center console bezel to your bench.
  9. Remove the rear cover of the clim control and PC card. There are about ½ doz plastic locking tabs around the cover that you can carefully pry up with a little pressure and work your way around the cover, until it's all free.
  10. With the cover off, you're looking at the back of the PC card.
  11. Lift the card from the bezel and clear plastic asm. (That's what transmitted the lite to the knobs and dash before the lamps burned out.
  12. Flip the card over; there's your bulbs.
  13. With a pencil tip soldering gun, touch the visible end of the bulb terminal wire on each and remove it from the card. Remove the old bulb from the holder ans replace with new lamp. Bend up and trim the wires.
  14. A slight amount of flux on the wires and solder on the card...
  15. Take the card to the car and plug the right conn. on the card. Turn on the lights to check. Voila!
  16. Reasm. components in reverse order... everything will snap together relatively ez. I did it (2) or (3) times to check voltages and bulb sizes before I finished the final asm. The only real pain was that lock and key on the fan sw until I figured it out.

Good luck...

I got a few pic if you need addit. help

What type of oil does a 1988 Toyota 22R engine use?

10w30

actually these engines do much better on a full synthetic 5w30.

depending on the mileage you want to run thicker oil to take up the worn 'play' in the motor, especially in warmer climates and the summer months. i use 3 quarts (give or take) of valvoline full synthetic (10w30) and one whole quart of lucas oil stablizer (non-synthetic). the lucas oil stablizer works wonders for the motor, i highly recomend that product. On older engines dont use synthetic.Castrol 10 w 30 is best choice.Slick 50 will help but not often.I have always used castrol from day one;that was 25 years ago.Engine is still going.
