How can you tell if your fertile?

For the purposes of safe sex and to avoid pregnancy always, always assume that you are fertile. To seriously answer this question....Unless you have had very serious childhood disease or if you have a genetic abnormality then assume you are fertile. I have seen men in their 40's who have been sexually active since their teens and they've never gotten anyone pregnant that they know of. And then "boom" their wives or girlfriends are pregnant. Unless you have had a sperm count and you know for an absolute fact that you are infertile....Then you are fertile. Most men are healthy (including reproductive health), until proven otherwise. As stated above, if you have had no serious illness, such as mumps, or injury to the testicles causing serious swelling then you are probably normal. If you have had unprotected sex on a regular basis for a year with a woman and no pregnancy has resulted then one of you may have a fertility problem. If she is known to be fertile and has had no change in her reproductive health then a semen analysis may be indicated to see if you are normal. Answer: I think you can simply ask your family physician for a fertility test or to have your semen counted.

What does a skull with wings mean?

To me it means a few things combined. The crow represents the bird that was forgotten. A sense of failure, like in the old testiment when Noah sent out a raven and it never returned failing its test, while the dove succeeded and has been long remembered. The skull represents death, whether it be a near death experience or a struggle, or a loved one lost. I have that tattooed with roses underneath to represent the hope you can have by overcoming your struggles. I battled through thoughts of suicide and my tattoo of the crow on top of the skull with roses is a reminder that though I've struggled with thoughts of suicide and failed so many times there's always hope for the ones who have had it rough.

Can you place the cockatiel cage near a sealed window?

It is very healthy for your Cockatiel to be near a window by nice natural sunlight but they cannot be by a window during winter time or very cold days unless you have wind and cold resistant windows. If an animal does get too cold they can die just of that but if it is in the summer time right away I say yes that it is very healthy for it.

Just make sure it is not too cold for you Cockatiel.

I am an animal lover and want to get a cockatiel. We have had many animals in past including parakeets so I know how to take care of birds. My parents said no. How can I convince them to get a bird?

i barely got my parents to buy me 2 parakeets so i know waht to do:

tell them that you are responsible with animals, you have proof bcuz you already had animals in the past.

ask them why they don't trust you with another bird or want to get a pet.

to convince them, you can say that you will pay for the toys, bird, cage, supplies, and food. that will definitely work.

good luck!!!!!

Are two cockatiels less affectionate than one?

In my experience they tend to shift their affection to the other bird, and away from the humans in the home.

Does cockatiels think of owners as parent or mate?

Cockatiels typically see their owners as companions rather than as parents or mates. In a domestic setting, they often form strong bonds with their humans, exhibiting behaviors that suggest affection and loyalty. However, their social structure leans more towards companionship, mimicking behaviors they would show to other cockatiels rather than strictly parental or mating dynamics. Each bird may have unique attachments based on their individual experiences and interactions.

For a Pet Cockatiel should you use bird sand and if so how is it used?

Bird sand or some type of bird grit is a must for cockatiels, as they need it to help them digest their food. All you need to do is sprinkle a small handful on the bottom of their cage whenever you change the paper (at least once a week). An alternative is to get some sand and grit, mix it in a feeding bowl, and keep it on the side of the cage, near their normal seed bowl.

Is it harmful to eat paper?

Quite the contrary. It can provide a useful source of roughage. However the bleach in large quantities does sometimes react unfavourably with stomach acid if enough paper is eaten, in that it lowers the pH and can denature enzymes. Most toner is poisonous, but some ink for inkjet printers is consumable. All in all, you wouldn't want to eat paper, but if you lost a bet, it wouldn't harm you to eat a sheet or two.

How soon will cockatiels mate or lay egg after 2 are put in one cage?

If it is a male and female cockatiel, it should not take long for them to mate. When I was younger, we had two cockatiels and kept them in separate cages. One time, the male was out of his cage and managed to get into the female's cage. They ended up mating, and not long after she laid an egg. My mom wanted them to have chicks, so my dad built a nest inside a wooden box and attached it to the side of the female's cage. He cut the wires to make a hole where she could then go in and lay more of her eggs, and she could hatch them. At this point we let the male and female stay in the same cage together. It was so sweet because the box had a top that we could open and close, so we could see the little chicks when they hatched. If you want chicks, make sure the female will have a comfortable place to incubate the eggs. Sometimes the female will lay an egg though, and it will drop to the bottom of the cage. Good luck!

Is it normal for a cockatiel to scream loud?

It's completely natural for a cockatiel to scream loudly. These birds live in large flocks in the wild and scream loudly to keep in contact with one another. So yes, it's just a part of its natural behavior. Sometimes they will scream for different reasons and if you listen closely you may be able to differentiate different types of calls. For example, my cockatiels call in a specific, very loud, pattern of cries when they are hungry as opposed to when they are trying to get my attention which is a very loud and clear, longer call. If they are screaming for attention the best thing to do is to ignore them and when they are quiet give them praise, affection and attention. This will reinforce the bird to be quiet more often. However, only ignore them -after- you are positive they have food and water, and nothing is frightening or threatening them.

How big does a Cockatiels Cage need to be?

For a cockatiel, the minimum recommendation cage size is 20 inch wide, 20 inch deep and 28 inch high.

Your cockatiel has dark grey tail feathers and only two horizontal striped feathers does this mean it is a female?

No. not neccessarily. Male cockatiels usually are more vocal than females so start with that. If you still can not determine the sex. Look to see if he/she has lots of yellow around the face. If there is alot of yellow they are usually male. Then there the tail thing. Usually alot of the feathers will have the stripes but not all. If you still dont know, i suggest you take it to a vet and have it sexed.

Can cockatiels sit on bluebird eggs and raise them?

Well, it depends on if the cockatiel is willing to raise the egg that is obviously not it's egg. If it is, then the bluebird chick will learn how to live life as a cockatiel. The bluebird will never have a crest, but it will learn the cockatiel's language as it's own and think it is a cockatiel because that is the type of bird it is living with. However, if you had a wild cockatiel and you set a bluebird egg in with the other eggs, the cockatiel would reject the eggs because they do not look right or smell right, and would drop the egg out of the nest.

I hope that answered your question. :)

Do cockatiels have vocal cords?

Yes, cockatiels do have vocal cords. But usually only males tend to 'show' that sound off by learning to repeat the words that it often hears or can sing a pretty song that it heard from somewhere. The females seem to be more quieter with words but can chirp the loudest chirp that you have ever heard! Some of the chirps can be ear peircing! So it depends if you would like a bird that repeats anything you say or a loud chirp every second for at least ten minutes at a time.
