It depends on the type and extent of the reaction. If it is a severe allergic reaction, it can result in deaths, just like in patients with severe allergic reactions to peanuts, shellfish and other severe life-threatening allergies. Specimens must be sent off to the CDC labs to have them tested to confirm "swine flu". There are field lab tests that prove that what you have is a type of flu, but they don't specify which type.
