Most games now a days do require a pretty nice rig to play and it really depends on what type of games you are playing and what type of video card you have to determine what type of CPU you should get. If you're going all out I would advise you to go with an Intel i7, if you're going to have to stay within a budget there's nothing wrong with getting a Core 2 Duo, these are both nice and fast CPUs.

This is most likely an overheating CPU. The motherboard has a sensor for heat. The best one being I7 if your into high graphical gaming and need a processor to keep up with it and other things like multitasking on large software's I7 has 4 cores so you can simply load your computer with a lot of programs running at the same time without any lag or crashes.

Get I5 if your into a small amount of gaming and do a lot of smaller tasks like word processing and the Internet.

Get I3 if you multitask with smaller software's this being again word processing and the Internet. You can game with an I3 but make sure you have the right hardware to run the game with this being the right RAM and Graphics card mainly, but try and get a laptop with a HDD with a fast transfer rate to load games at a faster speed. This applying with I7 and I5 but when you buy these processors the Laptop should come with high end Hardware.
