What is the purpose of mainframe computer?
Mainframe systems are designed to be used by large numbers of people. Most of
those who interact with mainframes are end users-people who use the
applications that are hosted on the system. However, because of the large
number of end users, applications running on the system, and the sophistication
and complexity of the system software that supports the users and applications,
a variety of roles are needed to operate and support the system.
What is Burner Management System?
ISA-99.02.01
BMS is a system for the safe start-up, monitoring, and shutdown of burner systems associated with boilers, flares, incinerators, gas turbines, thermal oxidizers, incinerators and other similar equipment.

Is a screen an input or output?
Output. Even if the screen is a touchscreen, the screen itself is still output. The input is handled through a conductive layer on top of the screen, ultrasonic waves in front of the screen, or from an electrostatic field in front of the screen and not from the screen itself.
Give 7 example of input device and explain each input device?
1. Keyboard - type letters, numbers, etc.
2. Mouse - click on buttons, text boxes, etc.
3. Touchpad (for laptops) - same as a mouse
4. Touchscreen - just touch the screen where you want to click
5. Pen (I think...) - just put the pen on the screen where you want to click
6. Scanner - scan for real images, documents, etc. and save them on your computer
7. Modem (I think...) - surf The Internet
8. Microphone - record sound and voice
9. CD-ROM/DVD-ROM/BlueRay/Floopy Disk/USB Drive/etc - get data from that drive
Hope there are enough ;)
There is no such thing as "random only memory"
The two main types are:
RAM: random access memory
ROM: read only memory
ROM is memory that does not change, it is "read only" the system reads it, uses it and never changes what is stored within it
RAM allows random access types, reading, writing, moving. Its fully adaptable to whatever it is asked to do from moment to moment.
Is the new expansion memory compatible with the existing memory installed in the laptop?
It totally depends on many things. There are so many different things that could hinder compatibility (this gets especially tricky when trying to use new memory on old computers or old memory modules on new ones) it's easier just to do this: go to your laptop manufacturer's website and find your model then check for a compatibility sheet or document. Often, they are PDF files available for download. They can also be found if you know your computer's motherboard. For example, if my computer as an ASUS motherboard with model number XXXXXX I can find this motherboard on ASUS' website, look at the compatibility sheet and it lists all the memory guaranteed to work on that motherboard. The easiest way to add more is to figure out what's already in the laptop and buy another module or two.

Generally, in December 2010, those are great specs for a computer. Of course, 2 years from now, that may not be true.
In terms of surfing the web, playing most games, or using Microsoft Office products like Word or Excel (even if you do all of those at the same time), those specs are more than capable.
In terms of playing the latest graphically intensive video games, those specs (the CPU and Video Card) are middle of the road in today's terms.
NOTE: 6 GB of RAM is plenty of memory for any task today, but keep in mind that on 64 bit operating systems can recognize more than 4 GB of RAM. For example, Win7, Win Vista, Win XP (32 bit and regardless of version), can only use and address 4 GB (actually around 3.32 GB).
Here is a Microsoft link to reference how much RAM is addressed by different OS versions:

Why isn't a USB an input device?
USB (Universal Serial Bus) itself is a data transfer bus that is only responsible for exchanging data and not doing anything else with it. It is just an interface or infrastructure. However, it connects to input devices, output devices, and bidirectional devices.
What is the Nvidia graphics card equivalent to Intel HD baytrail?
To put it simply, none. Bay Trail is aimed at System on a Chip technology used in devices such as tablets and automotive systems. Some netbooks may use it as well. A dedicated video card will surpass the capabilities of this type of technology since it is supposed to be pretty basic and just get things up on the screen.
Update as of 12/12/2014:
To answer the follow-up question of whether the nVidia 9300m GS is better than Intel's Bay Trail, the answer is yes, it would be better based on its specifications as it is designed for the purpose of being a dedicated moderate performance video card (though a few years old by now). However, since Bay Trail is not used in mainstream computers, the question is not completely accurate since it is addressing technologies aimed at two different types of products. This would be similar to asking which screen is better with the options being the LCD panel on one's Garmin GPS and the one used in a 60-inch TV.
I hope this helps. Please feel free to let me know if you have other questions or need more information.
The PCI Express Root Port functions the same way as a regular PCI Express port, with the additional function of monitoring the interconnect hierarchy of the PCI ports. This function includes tracking the interconnect bandwidth and making sure that the PCI port hierarchy is functioning properly
How can you tell if it's uses active or passive cooling by looking at the CPU?
The difference is that Passive cooling is just a heat sink that dissipates the heat into the air without the help of a fan. Active cooling is when you have a heat sink and a fan is directly blowing/sucking air thru the heat sink to cool it. The fan does not have to be on the heat sink as with some dell/gateway computers. The fan is on the plastic shroud, which in turn fits right over the heat sink. Water cooling and phase-change cooling is also considered active cooling.
yes they are call Piezoelectric type inkjet printers - In the piezoelectric technology, a piezo crystal is situated at the end of the ink reservoir of a nozzle. When printer receives the command to print, an electric charge is applied to the crystal which in turn starts vibrating and a small amount of ink is pushed out of the nozzle. When the vibration stops the nozzle pulls some more ink from the cartridge to replace the ink sprayed out. This technology is patented by Seiko Epson Corporation.
Where can i find my computer's original bios file?
In your computer BIOS-chip or in the manufature website.
What is advantages of twisted pair cable?
The advantages of Twisted pair cable are
1)Data transfer rate 100mbps
2)Can support more length(not sure in numbers)
3)Less cost
Speed: Ethernet can send up to 10,000mbps (10 Gbit/s) over TP cable.
On run length.
The above maximum is for Ethernet signalling, and this is required to ensure that Ethernet's collision-detection function will work correctly.
For voice-grade telephone, the run length is only limited by line loss due to cable attenuation.
Remote locations and rural/country properties are commonly many kilometres from local telephone exchanges, and the cable runs will be straight connections with no intermediate "booster" amplifiers/repeaters.
ADSL provision complicates the matter. ADSL runs at maximum speed for cable lengths under about 2.5 kilometres, ADSL2 begins to drop off at about 1.3 m (under a mile).
After that, their speed drops off rapidly, with a maximum of some 6.5 km (about 4 miles) the absolute limit for ADSL2 service.
What are the advantages and disadvantages of coaxial cable?
Coaxial cable is still the most common means of data transmission over short distances.
The advantages are:
- they are cheap to make
- cheap to install
- easy to modify
- good bandwith
- great channel capacity
- noise immunity due to low error rate
The advantages of using coax include the following:Broadband systemCoax has a sufficient frequency range to support multiple channels, which allows for much greater throughput.
Greater channel capacity
Each of the multiple channels offers substantial capacity. The capacity depends on where you are in the world. In the North American system, each channel in the cable TV system is 6MHz wide, according to the National Television Systems Committee (NTSC) standard. In Europe, with the Phase Alternate Line (PAL) standard, the channels are 8MHz wide. Within one of these channels, you can provision high-speed Internet access-that's how cable modems operate. But that one channel is now being shared by everyone using that coax from that neighborhood node, which can range from 200 to 2,000 homes.
Greater bandwidth
Compared to twisted-pair, coax provides greater bandwidth systemwide, and it also offers greater bandwidth for each channel. Because it has greater bandwidth per channel, it supports a mixed range of services. Voice, data, and even video and multimedia can benefit from the enhanced capacity.
Lower error rates
Because the inner conductor is in a Faraday shield, noise immunity is improved, and coax has lower error rates and therefore slightly better performance than twisted-pair. The error rate is generally 10-9 (i.e., 1 in 1 billion) bps.
Greater spacing between amplifiers
Coax's cable shielding reduces noise and crosstalk, which means amplifiers can be spaced farther apart than with twisted-pair.
The main disadvantages of using coax are as follows:Problems with the deployment architectureThe bus topology in which coax is deployed is susceptible to congestion, noise, and security risks.
Bidirectional upgrade required
In countries that have a history of cable TV, the cable systems were designed for broadcasting, not for interactive communications. Before they can offer to the subscriber any form of two-way services, those networks have to be upgraded to bidirectional systems.
Great noise
The return path has some noise problems, and the end equipment requires added intelligence to take care of error control.
High installation costs
Installation costs in the local environment are high.
Susceptible to damage from lightning strikes
Coax may be damaged by lightning strikes. People who live in an area with a lot of lightning strikes must be wary because if that lightning is conducted by a coax, it could very well fry the equipment at the end of it.
