It depends on your graphics card, but using whatever utility they provide (Catalyst Control Center for ATi cards or nVidia Control Panel for nVidia cards) there should be an option. In my nVidia Control Panel, there is a "Rotate Displays" section in which I can select "Landscape (flipped)".

Try removing any magnets or speakers from around the monitor. It might help.

for both crt and lcd monitors switching on will result in power loss and in crt it wont damage the monitors but in lcd its a serious problem and you haven't mentioned the type of monitor.please reply

I don't recommend it. There is some valid arguments concerning heat damage (left on) vs heating and cooling damage (off when not in use), but I don't care about them.

When my nephew's monitor caught fire, he was at home(although not at the computer) and able to put the fire out. No-one in our family leaves monitors on.......

Laptops have a VGA out port (D shaped and usually blue) which can be connected to a monitor with a VGA cable. i tried mine with a gateway t-series 1625 laptop to FPD1975W TFT LCD MONITOR but right before i can get into user login it says <RESOLUTION REMINDER-your computer screen may not match this monitor optimum (1440x900) setting. to adjust your screen resolution, see your computer's printered or online documentation. press auto button on the side of this monitor after adjusting the screen resolution. how do i solve this problem?

All Wrong... the M-systems comment is likely talking about the USB Flash Drive commonly known as the USB Thumb Drive. From my research the Universal Serial Bus USB was known about as early as 1994. The only fact about this is that a number of companies teamed up in its creation, Microsoft, Intel, etc. It was officially released January 1996 and put into production February 1996. USB 1.0 was likely invented sometime in 1995.

This happened to me too. I replaced my monitor cable and that fixed the problem. I think it has something to do with the fact that VGA carries three colors: red, green and blue. One of the connections within the cable must have gone bad.

No they do not. Speakers are provided with your screen. Monitors control speed fan, memory, network, ect. Older versions of computers have seperate speaker system (in which you buy one).
