for both crt and lcd monitors switching on will result in power loss and in crt it wont damage the monitors but in lcd its a serious problem and you haven't mentioned the type of monitor.please reply

I don't recommend it. There is some valid arguments concerning heat damage (left on) vs heating and cooling damage (off when not in use), but I don't care about them.

When my nephew's monitor caught fire, he was at home(although not at the computer) and able to put the fire out. No-one in our family leaves monitors on.......

Laptops have a VGA out port (D shaped and usually blue) which can be connected to a monitor with a VGA cable. i tried mine with a gateway t-series 1625 laptop to FPD1975W TFT LCD MONITOR but right before i can get into user login it says <RESOLUTION REMINDER-your computer screen may not match this monitor optimum (1440x900) setting. to adjust your screen resolution, see your computer's printered or online documentation. press auto button on the side of this monitor after adjusting the screen resolution. how do i solve this problem?

All Wrong... the M-systems comment is likely talking about the USB Flash Drive commonly known as the USB Thumb Drive. From my research the Universal Serial Bus USB was known about as early as 1994. The only fact about this is that a number of companies teamed up in its creation, Microsoft, Intel, etc. It was officially released January 1996 and put into production February 1996. USB 1.0 was likely invented sometime in 1995.

This happened to me too. I replaced my monitor cable and that fixed the problem. I think it has something to do with the fact that VGA carries three colors: red, green and blue. One of the connections within the cable must have gone bad.

No they do not. Speakers are provided with your screen. Monitors control speed fan, memory, network, ect. Older versions of computers have seperate speaker system (in which you buy one).

Look at what output port you have. It could be DVI, Mini DVI, Micro DVI, or other. The Apple store website should help you decide. Then decide what connection to the TV you want. For RCA cables (like a playstation uses), Svideo or others, though those are the most common. I use a Mini-DVI (from my white apple Macbook, though the new aluminum ones are MicroDVI) to RCA connector, then plug an RCA cable from the connector to my TV. This only handles the video. Sound is seperate, I use a cable that plugs into my headphones jack and outputs RCA. It may be a good idea to talk to someone at your local apple store.

The smallest point on a monitor is known as a pixel, which is in turn composed of three parts: one that emits red light, one that emits blue light, and one that emits green light (if you've ever heard of the acronym RGB, this is where the term comes from in this context.) these three colors light up in different amounts to display all the images you see on the screen.

Either the monitor is going bad or the video card is going bad. If you can get your hands on a spare monitor, try swapping it out and see if the lines are still there. If they are, then the problem is with the video card. You'll want to replace the video card if that is the case.

Ram modules can also cause vertical lines on a monitor.It's hard to believe but i have experienced it multiple times.The ram is detected by the system,yet the display is corrupt.If you open up the PC and touch the ram modules the lines go away.This is very rare yet a possible cause and easily overlooked.

Also, it could be a driver issue, try cleaning out your drivers using Driver Cleaner, and reinstalling the appropriate drivers.

If you have another computer, if the video card is a expansion video card (Meaning you have it in a PCI/AGP/PCI-E slot) try it in another computer to see if the problem persists, if so your card is probably bad and needs to be replaced.

Also check to see if there are any magnets near the screen or hard drive.
