An output device is any device used by the computer to return data to the user. A monitor is an output device, because it is the medium which the computer uses to print data. If LCD, you want to look at the reccomended resolution, the contrast ratio, and the dot pitch or pixel spacing. A higher contrast ratio means whiter whites and blacker blacks, while the higher the resolution, the higher the definition. The pixel spacing or dot pitch should be as small as possible.

Next is the response speed. Anything over 10ms may cause blurring or 'ghosting' when things move quickly on the screen. Be warned, anything that says it's below 4ms is often either lying, uses a 'trick' that degrades the picture substantially, or is misreporting. These are always poor quality monitors, but respond quickly in games.

If you want quality of picture, look for an S-IPS panel. This is a superior technology which provides a much sharper, more beautiful image. It is, however, expensive.

S-Video ports and AVI ports are used to connect a computer to a monitor/television screen. S-video usually works with older television sets and some monitors. AVI used to be the most common way to connect a computer (desktop or laptop) to a monitor. Currently HDMI and DVI dominate the commercial market.

As for uses: people use them for dual/multi-monitor displays; to extend their workspace. You can also connect your laptop to a better monitor/television and then you can watch a video in better quality.

Obviously, the main difference between a plasma and LCD monitor is that plasma screens use plasma gas to generate an image and LCD's use liquid crystals. Plasma screens have a much longer response rate which will leave "screen burn" or a persisting image after the image is gone. LCD's have a much quicker response time that is best for fast paced games. Both monitors use the same imput and are capable of high definition images. LCD's usually have higher contrast ratios which yields much sharper images although their maximum size is less than that of a plasma monitor.

Click the little gear shape and go to zoom. Click it and for best results click 125%. If that doesn't work, you might have to put your two fingers on your computer pad and move them to adjust your screen.

An LCD screen puts out no light. Zero. So in the older LCDs, fluorescent lighting behind the screen was utilized, but the color tended to be a titch on the green side.

And the LCD screen that is lighted by LED lights behind it has no such color problem. Also, since the LEd lights can be made so tiny, the picture on an LED LCD is sharper.

most kvm units are about the same in that you connect the kvm wires comming from the kvm to the computer. you will have on a 2 port kvm there will be 2 sets of wires,one for each computer, one going to the monitor and the other going to the key bd and mouse. you will take the ones you disconnected form the first or second computer to the kvm switch..follow the manual as to the proper way to toggle between computers..

it's not necessarily better. it is brighter than lcd, which is why contrast ratios shoot up well over the 150k:1 ratio for lcd. they are also incredibly thin and lightweight. true led TVs, or oled TVs have each individual pixel lit up, while most consumer led TVs use fluorescent light bars to produce a picture. this lets them show more colors and be a bit better for darker colors. however the leds lose a lot of viewing angle when vied from the side.
