If you take off your startup programs, it may help. On windows XP go to the start button, run and type in msconfig. At the top of the window there are tabs choose the tab that says start-up. Uncheck everything it will not harm your computer. Click apply then ok. It will tell you to reboot your computer when it reboots a window will appear that states "You are using selective start-up" there is a box in the middle of the window that says "Do not show this message again" click that.

Get a boot disk/usb for either the system you wish to install on it, and there should be an option to do this, alternatively you can use a linux system to do this. In order for any of these to work you must first have the boot order in your BIOS set to prioritise usb and or disk drive, otherwise it wont check there before booting your system.

You can't as Add remove programs MAIN FEATURE is to remove programs not blanks. When they appear blank is because they no longer exist in the registry and they have been removed (partially) or a spyware has attacked the registry causing the add/remove view to be deteriored. in order to get rid of the blank (if it really bothers you), you need to manually delete a registry entry (yellow folder) from HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall If you go there you will notice so many folders (entries). If you cannot spot the name of the folder as ATI DAO, then you need to click on each folder that is not defined accurately (for example a folder called {cddfdfasdfsdfs} or anything that doe't mean something) and look for the name under DISPLAY NAME. If under the DISPLAY NAME the name is ATI DAO then you have found the folder. Delete it by right clicking on it and choose DELETE. HINT: the folder will always be/appear on your right side while the display name is an entry of the folder located on the left side. Technically these types of entries with the AB icons are called STRING VALUE entries.
