What do you do if your Christmas cookie dough is to crumbly?
If the recipe contains a fair amount of shortening or oil, work the dough quickly on a cold surface and avoid using the recipe in very hot, humid weather.
Be sure to read the recipe carefully and compare it with similar recipes - cookery writers do get things wrong sometimes - to make sure you're using the correct proportion of dry ingredients such as flour to fat or wet ingredients.
Why your chocolate cookies came out hollow?
If your cookie is flat when it comes out of the oven, this is for sure only if it is home-made. If this happens with store bought dough, they expiration date is over and the dough has gone bad. But for homemade, you either need to add flour or baking soda. Here is the recipe for homemade cookies:
Preheat oven oven to 375°.
• 2 and 1/4 cups of flour
• 1 cup of sugar
• 1 Cup of brown sugar
• 1 teaspoon of baking soda
• 1/2 teaspoon of salt
• 1 package (11.5 oz) of chocolate chips
• 2 sticks of butter -or- 1 stick of butter and one stick of shortening (for softer cookies)
• 2 eggs
Mix eggs, brown sugar, sugar and butter/shortening in one bowl. In another bowl mix flour, salt and baking soda. Mix altogether in a big bowl. Refrigerate the dough for about 20 minutes. Hopefully, the dough tastes and feels right. Grease a cookie sheet and drop as tablespoons. Separate about two inches from each other. Bake 9-11 minutes, or until golden brown. Store in air tight container. Place bread in container for better quality.

What happens if you leave out the salt in a cookie recipe?
If you've already done it, then you can increase the rest of the ingredients to equal the extra salt you added. For example, if you added a tablespoon of salt instead of a teaspoon, then triple all of the remaining ingredients as well. It will make a larger batch of cookies, but at least it will save you from throwing the whole batch out. Depending on the type of cookie you're making, you could freeze the extras and bake at a later time without any additional work.
If you didn't add that much extra, then you could just add some extra sugar, or dried fruits, to offset the saltiness. The texture of the baked cookie, however, may turn out differently since the chemistry of the recipe has now changed. Since sugar melts when exposed to moisture or when heated, your cookies may turn out thinner and crispier than they otherwise would be.
Normally, when cookie recipes call for any fat other than butter, regardless of what the recipe says, I simply and quite literally add just a 'pinch' of salt per recipe. (If I make a double batch, then I'll add two pinches, and so on.) When recipes call for butter or unsalted butter, I always use 'salted butter' and add no additional salt whatsoever. The cookies always look and taste great, and I never have to worry about them being salty.
What can you use in place of ground cloves in cookie baking?

Can people get worms from eating raw cookie dough?
yes,i once ate cookie dough and got worms.
............................................................................
no, not unless one of the ingredients in the cookie dough was already contaminated. The most common concern in eating raw cookie dough is the possibility of salmonella from the raw eggs in the unbaked dough, not worms.
More information:
The type of worms that infest the human digestive track are usually picked up from soil or animal feces, not from uncooked food, unless that food is severely contaminated with soil or feces. The "mealy worms" sometimes found in flour and other grains are not the same as the worms that cause intestinal disease.

Is there an expiration date for baking soda?
For a very, very long time. If you want to test it to see if it would work for your purposes, try adding vinegar or lemon juice to a sample. See if its effervescence is vibrant and lively, and if it is not, if it is dull and sullen, then just discard that crap and buy a new one.
Why do you need sugar in cookies?
In baking, brown sugar essentially does the same thing as regular table sugar does. In fact, brown sugar is white sugar, only with molasses added. The molasses adds a certain color, a little more sweetness and moisture, and a little different taste, but by and large, the brown sugar does the same job as regular sugar in baking.
Will cookies cooked on a stone cookie sheet turn out?
A "cooking stone" is normally used for cooking pizza in a conventional oven. It retains higher heat than the oven temperature to crisp and brown the pizza crust. This is not meant for the tender butter or shortening based sugar cookie dough. The cookies would probably spread, melt and burn before cooking properly.
Keep the cookies locked in seal-tight baggy or container. It also helps to make with good ingredients, and not with the cheap stuff you buy at store. Last but not least, not burning the cookies helps them last a lot longer as well. :)
Where did cookies originally come from?
The origin of Christmas cookies is not known. Here is some information about Christmas cookies:
Did you know that sugar once sold for the equivalent of $100.00 a pound? And that flour was a far more essential kitchen item in households where people literally had to bake bread and biscuits everyday for basic sustenance?
I bring these up because they're important points in the fact that cookies, candies, and cakes are a traditional part of most every Western celebration. In times where we didn't have a mega-mart on every corner, these treats used "rare" and "expensive" ingredients like sugar, or essential ingredients like flour that weren't normally "wasted"; only on the most special occasions did you commit the cost of expensive or essential ingredients to such treats. So it is only natural that a holiday like Christmas would have cookies associated with it.
Why cookies, specifically? That's really unknown. Cookies are just a form of small cake, really, with the conveniece of being handheld and quick to bake. The German traditions that led to Christmas cookies included ''Lebkuchen'' and ''Spritz'' recipes that used less sugar and more spices like cinnimon, cloves, and nutmeg--cheaper and easier to get than sugar was--as well as raisins and other dried fruits.
I suspect it was the same tradition made those spices synonymous with Christmas; at least, I always associate cinnamon and nutmeg with the holidays!
In modern times, cookies are simply fun. For many families, cutting and decorating Christmas cookies is a tradition, as is leaving them out for Santa Claus (either to be nice, or to try and bribe a better gift for naughty children!).

As a general value I would believe around 3 or 4 dollars.
There are many different types of cookies, but most include flour, eggs, butter, sugar and some type of levening (baking soda or baking powder). The other ingredients from recipe to recipe involve different flavoring like chocolate, nuts, spices, etc.

What is the function of egg in chocolate chip cookies?
Eggs in baking have two main functions. They act like glue to hold and bind the batters and doughs together so that they do not fall apart while baking, and they can assist in making the baked good lighter, fluffier, and rise a little in the oven, not to mention that eggs can also give a product a bit of a shine and glaze once baked.
