ONLY if he is threatening your family, or your animals..
If a coyote is in the backyard, he is a threat to any pets or small children in the neighborhood. But whether you can shoot him or if you have to call animal control will depend on where you live. In the rural setting where I grew up, we wouldn't have thought twice about it - coyote in yard = dead coyote. But now I am in an urban area and I had better not use a firearm unless someone is in IMMEDIATE danger - like the animal is gnawing on my lower extremities. Even shooting it while it was attacking my pet might be questionable.
Where I live coyote's are open season year round no perment needed. ( far east Tennessee ) there looked at as a Predator.
It depends on where you live. In Ohio, coyotes are a nuisance. We are allowed to kill them any time of the year, any weapon is allowed, and you do not need a license or a tag.
I believe so. After some internet research i think they can. In my town, there is a whole family of foxes, they look like a cross between a fox and a coyote. They seem dangerous at time, though.

With weather, health, and terrain aside, a single coyote would never stand a chance to bring down a camel, or even a pack. Camels stand too high for coyotes to reach any spots where they could do any major damage. Also, camels are capable of kicking with their legs, so attacking just the legs would also make it difficult for a coyote.
Are there coyotes in Central Indiana?
Yes, you can. The following quote comes from the INDNR website (See Link):
The DNR controls the population of coyotes primarily by a regulated hunting and trapping season, which runs from Oct. 15 through March 15. A hunting or trapping license is required, unless the individual is hunting or trapping on land he/she owns. In addition, Indiana law allows landowners, or a person with written permission of a landowner, to take coyotes year-round on private property.

May I recommend .243 Winchester with a 75 grain hollow point bullet and a 3x9 scope. Coyotes won't let you get close.
