What do Baptists believe?

The SBC link to the Baptist Faith and Message gives what most Baptist believe, but first and foremost, Baptist believe that Jesus was the Son of God and that through His death on the cross, He paid the price for all people's sins. However, the only way to partake of that salvation and payment and become redeemed of all sin is to ask Jesus for it. But in so doing, one must be honest and truly feel conviction for their sins, resolving to live the rest of their life for God in the best of their abilities.

Baptists believe that in the beginning, humans were unseparated from God, but that sin brought about separation from His grace and mercy. Jesus restored that through his sacrificial death on the cross. Baptist do not believe in Purgatory, it is not a Biblical place. Hades was, but is not the same concept. It was a place mainly for the souls of people who were righteous, but died before Jesus did. Baptist are different from Catholics for that reason, also, because Baptist do not necessarily confess their sins to a priest so he can pray to God for that person's forgiveness or something. Jesus established the connection between God and His followers, so we can pray directly to God without a high priest or a burnt offering or the other stuff they needed in the Old Testament times before Jesus.

Baptist believe that the Holy Bible was inspired by the Holy Spirit (a facet of God but not separate) and that it is for our instruction for life and for the strengthening of our faith. In essence, it was passed from God to man to paper by divine revelation.

Also Baptists are much different from Southern Baptist. There is Independent Baptist and Southern Baptist. Souther focus mainly on the matter of abstenince, meaning the matter of sex before marrage. Or remaining pure. I am An Independant Baptist and we are a great religion. Come check us out at FBC! U know baby!

What is the inside of a human called?

Usually we call what's inside us our spirit or soul. Or for the less spiritually inclined, your organs, skeleton, and muscles are what is inside your skin.

If the expansion of the universe was reversed it would shrink to a point in about?

If the contraction occurred at the same rate as the expansion has, then it would take about fifteen billion years.

Can theism be consistent with dialectical materialism?

Dialectical materialism actually doesn't exist - it is an "invention" of scientists who have merged two non-mergable notions of philosophy. Read the "Dissent over Discent" book of Fuller for more on this. In case you ask whether the materialism of scientists can be compatible with theism, the answer is no. Being profoundly in favour of the notion that only particles and dust exist in the Universe, can make it difficult for you to see anything else in the world. Only if you can see a higher purpose in life and only if you can see spirituality in the cosmos, will you be able to understand what theism stands for. Many people have concluded with their LOGIC that such things as "higher purpose" exist in life (see Godel). Other people have concluded with their FAITH that such things as "higher purpose" exist in life. These people are theists. On the other side, some people BELIEVE (axiomatically) that nothing else exists in the Universe than electons and protons. These two cannot be compatible - at least not for me.

Does God has a form of government and what is its name?

God is government, it has no name like earthly governments have. All things are obedient to Him. He need not call on anyone to form a government, though He does make assignments for other of His children to fulfil. Take the assignment of Jesus Christ for instance and all of the prophets. God is self governing.

Are men God's favorite creation?

Answer 1

Well, probably yes to the good people who when they die will live a happy life in heaven while others spend the time in, (u know what!!!!) And don't forget about women!!!! -Pipster

Answer 2

If by "men" you are referring to humanity, then yes. God endowed people with the capacity for reason, introspection, and an ability to grow closer to the Divine. If by "men" you are referring exclusively to men as opposed to women, then no. Men and women are themselves incomplete parts of the same whole and it is the union of these disparate parts that is valued, not one or the other.

Answer 3

That depends which god you are asking about. Some religions say that their gods favour mankind even over the angels (some even say that the rebellious angels rebelled because of resenting this favouritism). Other religions claim that there are orders of creation higher than Man and more beloved by God (e.g. yazatas in Ormazdism).

Biblically in how many days was the Earth made?

God created the earth in 6 days. There was morning and night between each day of creation. We have no reason to believe that these were not 24 hour days. The Bible uses the word YOM as the word for day in Genesis, as it does in almost every other place in the bible. In all but a couple of references the word YOM refers to a 24 hour period of time.

God could have created in millions of years or in a split second. The Bible goes to great pains to teach us that it was 6 literal days. This belief went without argument for the vast majority of history. It wasn't until evolutionist began to build dating methods that assumed "billions" of years that we began to doubt the authenticity of the 6 day account of creation.

How was the world created based on the book of Genesis?

Everything was created from scratch and it took six days to create everything and on the seventh day God rested this is all according to genesis.

Why didn't Buddha accept Creator God?

The Buddha held that it was not necessary to believe in gods in order to achieve enlightenment, but that his followers could believe in gods if they so wished.

A great majority of Buddhists do believe in a creator god, whether the Abrahamic God, or another. It is certainly acceptable within some schools of Buddhism for their followers to believe in God, as the world's creator.

~That's correct. :-) I am a Buddhist, but I still believe in, love, and accept in my heart God. ^_^

Order of creation in reference to Genesis 1?

Day by day, God created the universe and everything in it (Genesis ch.1).God created the universe out of nothing (Exodus 20:11, Isaiah 40:28; Rashi commentary to Genesis 1:14; Maimonides' "Guide," 2:30). Nachmanides on Gen. 1:1 states emphatically that this is a fundamental Jewish tradition.Note that the Torah, in describing the Creation, deliberately employs brevity and ellipsis, just as it does in many other topics. See the Talmud, Hagigah 11b.

On day 1: God created the universe in general, light, and this Earth. The light was not the same as that of the sun.

On day 2: God created the separation between the Earth and the upper atmosphere.

On day 3: God separated the continents from the oceans, and created plants.

On day 4: God created the sun, moon, and stars.

On day 5: God created birds and fish.

On day 6: God created animals and people.

On day 7: God ceased creating, thereby creating the concept of rest.

Note that according to tradition, there is only one Genesis creation-narrative, with ch.2 serving as an expansion of the brevity of ch.1, not a separate set of events (Rashi commentary, Gen. 2:8).

How is it possible for Satan to go to paradise in Heaven and get married with a Goddess to save the Earth?

There are no "Goddesses" in Christianity for Satan to marry.

---- Further Comment

Little Nicky was a film, and uses a wildly eccentric (and many would say blasphemous) interpretation of the Christian story to develop its plotline.

Some of the ideas in Little Nicky are based on notions which were found in very early Christian thinking (specifically in Gnostic theories of the Demiurge), but no current Christian believes that Satan gets visiting rights in Heaven. (None that I know of, at least).

Different ages have different ideas on how loosely one can interpret the Bible, and Biblical tradition. John Milton's Paradise Lost adds much story material to his version of the Fall which Milton would have known was dubious, or heterodox. But Milton always shows a fundamental respect for his subject matter.

Little Nicky plays the Bible for laughs - but for some arcane reason it has escaped the censure that (say) The Life of Brian suffered.

Why do people totally disagree with evolution?

Here are some arguments for Creation or against Evolution.

These point to Divine Creation:

  • The staggering complexity of every organ and every cell in the human body.
  • The vastness of our minds and emotions.
  • The fact that the universe has definite design, order, and arrangement which cannot be sufficiently explained outside a theistic worldview. (This is how Abraham, without benefit of teachers, came to reject the chaotic world-view of idolatry and the possibility of atheism). For example, theoretical physicist and popular science writer Paul Davies (whose early writings were not especially sympathetic to theism) states concerning the fundamental structure of the universe, "the impression of design is overwhelming" (Davies, 1988, p. 203).
  • The laws of the universe seem to have been set in such a way that stars, planets and life can exist. Many constants of nature appear to be finely tuned for this, and the odds against this happening by chance are astronomical.
See: More detailed evidence of Creation

Also:

1) The glaring lack of transitional fossils has been noted by the evolutionists themselves, such as this statement from the famous paleontologist and evolutionist George G. Simpson; quote: "The regular lack of transitional fossils is not confined to primates alone, but is an almost universal phenomenon."
"The lack of transitional series cannot be explained as being due to the scarcity of material. The deficiencies are real; they will never be filled" (Nilsson, N. Heribert).
"To the unprejudiced, the fossil record of plants is in favor of special creation" (Corner, E.J.H., Contemporary Botanical Thought).
2) Instances of falsifying of evidence by evolutionists, such as Haeckel's drawings, Archaeoraptor, the Cardiff "specimen," and Piltdown Man.
"Haeckel exaggerated the similarities [between embryos of different species] by idealizations and omissions, in a procedure that can only be called fraudulent. His drawings never fooled embryologists, who recognized his fudgings right from the start. The drawings, despite their noted inaccuracies, entered into the standard student textbooks of biology. Once ensconced in textbooks, misinformation becomes cocooned and effectively permanent, because textbooks copy from previous texts. We do, I think, have the right to be both astonished and ashamed by the century of mindless recycling that has led to the persistence of these drawings in a large number, if not a majority, of modern textbooks (Stephen Gould).
Dr. Jonathan Wells published a book in 2002 entitled Icons of Evolution. Dr. Wells states that the book shows that "the best-known 'evidences' for Darwin's theory have been exaggerated, distorted or even faked."

3) Creationists see the "survival of the fittest" and the dating of rock layers by fossils as being perfect tautologies.

4) The fact that some qualified, educated, normal scientists do not believe in evolution. Or at least question it, even if they still preach evolution: "Nine-tenths of the talk of evolutionists is sheer nonsense, not founded on observation and wholly unsupported by facts. This museum is full of proofs of the utter falsity of their views. In all this great museum, there is not a particle of evidence of the transmutation of species" (Dr. Etheridge, Paleontologist of the British Museum).
"To postulate that the development and survival of the fittest is entirely a consequence of chance mutations seems to me a hypothesis based on no evidence and irreconcilable with the facts. It amazes me that this is swallowed so uncritically and readily, and for such a long time, by so many scientists without murmur of protest" (Sir Ernest Chain, Nobel Prize winner).

5) The fact that there is a shared, worldwide tradition among every ancient society that the world was created.

6) Evolving of new organs or species has not been witnessed during known history.

7) Mutations are harmful, not beneficial. One of the tasks of DNA and of long-term breeding is to avoid or repair any changes brought about by mutations. This means that our genetic apparatus is programmed to resist change.

8) Mutations, even if beneficial, do not create new organs.

9) The fact that a great number of fossils have been found in the "wrong" rock-layers according to what evolutionary paleontology would require.

10) The fact that you need DNA to make DNA. No genetic code can be demonstrated to have arisen by chance, together with the ability to read that code and carry out its instructions. Information does not arise spontaneously; and there is an incredible amount of information in even the tiniest cell.
"A living cell is so awesomely complex that its interdependent components stagger the imagination and defy evolutionary explanations" (Michael Denton, author).
"The astounding structural complexity of a cell" (U.S. National Library of Medicine).
Concerning a single structure within a cell: "Without the motor protein, the microtubules don't slide and the cilium simply stands rigid. Without nexin, the tubules will slide against each other until they completely move past each other and the cilium disintegrates. Without the tubulin, there are no microtubules and no motion. The cilium is irreducibly complex. Like a mousetrap, it has all the properties of design and none of the properties of natural selection" (Michael Behe, prof. of biophysics).

11) The problem of the impossibility of abiogenesis in general. "The concept of abiogenesis is not science. It's fantasy" (J.L. Wile, Ph.D.).

12) The fact that evolution was once used as support for the belief that Blacks (or others) are less than highly-evolved humans. "Darwin was also convinced that the Europeans were evolutionarily more advanced than the black races" (Steven Rose, author). He also "reasoned that males are more evolutionarily advanced than females" (B. Kevics, author).

13. The first and second laws of thermodynamics point clearly to a Creator, since things undergo entropy rather than get more orderly over time.

14. "Radiometric techniques may not be the absolute dating methods that they are claimed to be. Age-estimates on a given geological stratum by different radiometric methods are often very different. There is no absolutely reliable long-term radiological clock. The uncertainties inherent in radiometric dating are disturbing to geologists and evolutionists." William D. Stansfield, Ph.D., Instructor of Biology, California Polytechnic State University.

15. "Even total rock systems may be open during metamorphism and may have their isotopic systems changed, making it impossible to determine their geologic age." Prof. Gunter Faure (Department of Geology, The Ohio State University, Columbus.)

16 a). At current rates of erosion the amount of sea-floor sediments actually found do not support a "billions of years" age for the Earth.
b) The amount of Sodium Chloride in the sea, also, is a small fraction of what the "old Earth" theory would postulate.
c) The Earth's magnetic field is decaying too fast to extrapolate a long age for the Earth.
d) The rate of accumulation of Moon-dust has been measured; and the amount of dust on the Moon was found to be vastly less than what scientists had predicted before the Moon-landings.

See: Problems in Evolutionary astronomy

e) Helium is generated by radioactive elements as they decay. The escape of this helium into the atmosphere can be measured. According to the Evolutionary age of the Earth there should be much more helium in the atmosphere, instead of the 0.05% that is actually there. Also see:

What is a nayabingi?

There are two definitions according to Wikipedia.org

1) Nayabingi is the spirit of an African queen which sometimes possess women, called bagirwas. These women have often attained political power and advocate a theocratic government. Some men have become nyabingi priests as well. Sometimes their politics opposes colonial rule. Now the religion has become part of the Rastafari movement.

2) The music that was part of the religion has been incorporated into Jamaican ska and reggae music.

Is life God's creation or a natural phenomenon that can be explained by science?

Both, since all scientific phenomena are created by God.
__________
Or, neither. Some do not accept a creator deity. And 'science' does not bring about any phenomenon, unless you are talking about effects that follow deliberate scientific activities. Life may be the creation of a deity, or it may be a natural phenomenon. Maybe there are other possibilities that no one has yet considered.

What is the first mention of Satan or evil in any form of literature?

The first mention of Satan, although by another name, is in the ancient Gathas of the Zoroastrian religion. The 'Hostile Spirit' was Angra Mainyu, equally uncreated alongside Ahura Mazda, but ignorant and wholly malign.

Zoroastrianism was the religion of the Persians, who liberated the Jews from Exile in Babylon, and it was only in post-Exilic times that the Jews began to write of Satan. However, the Jews had adopted a strongly monotheistic concept for Judaism and could not perceive of Satan as uncreated nor as an adversary to God. They began to perceive Satan as the loyal assistant to God, tasked with testing the righteousness of the faithful. It was not until the first century CE that the Cristians began to see Satan as an adversary to God, in the same way as Zoroastrianism does.

There is no direct link that absolutely confirms that the Jews adopted Satan from Zoroastrianism, nor that the Christian understanding of Satan was influenced by Zoroastrianism, but there are too many coincidences otherwise. Angra Mainyu was Satan.

How the early church influence the community?

The early chuch leaders had at times more influence than the king. Through ignorance of the general public, the church was able to manipulate the common man into believing that the church had power over their souls. This being the case if the church said "Jump" the people did so for fear of disobedience to church leaders, and their being assigned to hell for their disobedience.

If God created everything in 6 days and rested on the 7th when did he create the universe?

On the first day, God created the heavens and the earth. That's the universe. Subsequently he populated the universe with stars, etc.

AnswerAccording to the bible, god only created the earth. And the waters on earth and the heavens are separated by a firmament. And those twinkling stars can fall down to earth. see link on "Firmament";

Genesis[6] And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters. [7] And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so. [8] And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day. [14] And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: [15] And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so. [17] And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth, [20] And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven. Pss.19 [1] The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork. Pss.150 [1] Praise ye the LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power. Ezek.1 [22] And the likeness of the firmament upon the heads of the living creature was as the colour of the terrible crystal, stretched forth over their heads above. [23] And under the firmament were their wings straight, the one toward the other: every one had two, which covered on this side, and every one had two, which covered on that side, their bodies. [25] And there was a voice from the firmament that was over their heads, when they stood, and had let down their wings. [26] And above the firmament that was over their heads was the likeness of a throne, as the appearance of a sapphire stone: and upon the likeness of the throne was the likeness as the appearance of a man above upon it. Ezek.10 [1] Then I looked, and, behold, in the firmament that was above the head of the cherubims there appeared over them as it were a sapphire stone, as the appearance of the likeness of a throne. Dan.12 [3] And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.

AnswerLeaving out relevant verses can make the Bible be silent where it is not. The Bible makes it clear that God made the universe as evidenced by the following: Genesis 1:16 (King James Version)16And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.Genesis 2:1-4 (King James Version)Genesis 2

1Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.

2And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.

3And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

4These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens,

The following verse makes it clearest of all:

Exodus 20:11

For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it

In the Book of Genesis what was God's motivation for creating the world?

I don't believe Genesis answers it, but here's an interesting verse as to God's own motivation for doing something:

for at this time I will send all My plagues to your very heart, and on your servants and on your people, that you may know that [there is] none like Me in all the earth.

--Ex 9:14

So the short answer to your question is "self glorification."

Please read the context of the verse quoted above

Exodus 9:13: Then Jehovah said to Moses: "Get up early in the morning and take a position in front of Phar′aoh, and you must say to him, 'This is what Jehovah the God of the Hebrews has said: "Send my people away that they may serve me. 14 For at this time I am sending all my blows against your heart and upon your servants and your people, to the end that you may know that there is none like me in all the earth. 15 For by now I could have thrust my hand out that I might strike you and your people with pestilence and that you might be effaced from the earth. 16 But, in fact, for this cause I have kept you in existence, for the sake of showing you my power and in order to have my name declared in all the earth. 17 Are you still behaving haughtily against my people in not sending them away.

As you can see God was directing this comment at Pharaoh, a wicked man, who was holding God's people as slaves, stubbornly refusing to let them go. His words were not directed to mankind in general.

The Biblical answer to the original question:Isaiah 45:

18 For this is what Jehovah has said, the Creator of the heavens, He the [true] God, the Former of the earth and the Maker of it, He the One who firmly established it, who did not create it simply for nothing, who formed it even to be inhabited:

How many years from Genesis 1 to 11?

6023 years. God gives a very clear concise account of the age of the earth at the time of the flood. God also tells us the very day it happened. on the second month and the 17 day which is May 21 according to our callender. All you have to do is add up the full years of the Patriarchs life unless a child was born after his own image and after his own likeness.or he called his name. you will find the date is accurate. the flood occured on may 21 6990 or may 21 4990 bc according to our callender.

How does prayer express faith in God?

Prayer is communication with God, so logically you must have faith in His existence to sincerely pray. It is possible to speak prayer like words with no faith, but this is not really prayer. the prayer is oh my god,i firmly believe that you are one god in there divine persons ,father, son, and holy spirit i believe that your divine son became man,and die for our sins, and that he will come to judge the living and the dead .beleive this and all the truths the holy catholic church teaches because you have revealed them, who can natheir desieve nor be desieved

How do you know if you have a god sister or not?

Answer 1I suppose if your godparents have kids, then you do. My friend is getting baptised, and she's having my neighbor be her godmother and we're going to have the pastor let me be her other "godparent", but as her god sister. Answer 2
  • God; the Creator; is one and only one God with no partner, no son, no sister, no father, no companion, no associate, and no equivalence.
  • If God; the Creator; has a partner; whoever sister or father or son; There would be no stability in our world and the Gods sure would fight against each other to end with one and only one God.
  • However, per English language, God sister is:
    • if a person's godmother/godfather has a daughter, they would be their god sister
    • when two girls feel spiritually connected and believe god brought them together as best friends. They are god sisters.
