Well first off, I wouldn't think having an ego and thinking getting a lot of girls would be a good thing because it only makes you seem to be out of the question when it comes to dating when YOU want a serious relationship (once of course you earn that horrible-like reputation). I would focus on one person that sparks your interest a lot and keep friendship-tabs on her (getting to know her and being there for her when she needs you as a friend) and once that relationship has been established then I'd think about moving up a bit, however, make sure you're ready to be at least a little committed (as I know that most teens don't do this).
