Deforestation and Habitat Loss

One way to save the Rainforest from vanishing, is to stop cutting down the trees, bushes, and brush. If we do this our people, and animals will be happy, and the Rainforest will be saved. You can also plant more flowers, trees, brush, and bushes, so when/if they do cut down the trees, there will be plants to replace them.

Because we use their wood, and their different things to make most of what we have today. although we are trying to stop most of the deforestation, or at least replant the trees. although it takes many, MANY years for it to grow back. Usually they never grow the trees back.

Each year, 14 million trees are cut down to make just 10 million paper bags.

most people think that the destruction of the rainforest is a bad thing because the rainforests are known as the 'LUNGS OF THE EARTH' becasue they produce more than 20% of all of the earths oxygen.

Destroying the rainforests also causes animal habitats to dissapear and therefore the animals can no longer survive. this is bad because the rainforest is home to some very rare and endangered species of bird, plant and animal. by destroying one habitat, this may cause others to die out because they can no longer feed on that plant or animal who lived there.

there are indiginous people who live in the rainforests. they have lived there for thousands of years and live 'at one' with the forest. they move every ten to fifteen years so that the forest can regrow where their settlement had been. for exnmple in the Bornean Rainforest there is a tribe called the Penan.

The Bornean Government have tried to make the indigenous people move out of the forest so that it can be deforested but they will not go because it is the land of their ancestors. some tribal people have left the forests and begun living in the modern world, although the majority refuse.

People in favour of the rainforest destruction include Logging companies who deforest the land and collect the trees to sell for building etc.

Palm Oil companies such as Cargill which provide Palm oil for food and cosmetics build their plantations in vast areas of cleeared rainforest. this causes many problems for animals and plants in the area which can no longer live or grow there.

Farmers also clear the land to allow their cattle to graze on the fertile soil but the soil is only fertile because of the plants which die and return nutrients to the soil. Because of the land only being fertile for a few years maximum, the farmers deforest more land which is fertile and keep deforesting every few years when the soil becomes useless and infertile.

Borneo and brazil are LEDC's and therefore the people need work. the work provided by the companies that deforest the land allows the people to become more developed and strengthens the national ecomony.

Overall, the rainforests are an important part of the Earth and it is very beautiful. it takes more than 5 million years to build a biodiversity as large as one of the rainforests so if they dissapear it will create a huge problem for the Human race and other species.

but, we need the products produced by the rainforests to progress. we need to let animals graze so that we can consume them ourselves and we need the logging to take place so that we have materials to build homes etc.

We need to prioritise. what is more important? An incredible biodiverse ecosystem home to thousands of rare species of animals and plants and a huge contribution to our oxygen levels or food and sufficient materials to allow us to progress and become a more economically developed world?

The rain forest effects out lives, because Without the rainforest's, we would have allot of animals that cant live no where else that will die. Another way is that if we did not have the rain forests we would not get as much water as we do now. Cause the rain in the rain forests reaches America. Sometimes it don't always reach Amercia, because we would have to suffer the problem with having no water.

People who cut down rainforests are mostly loggers and construction workers. Loggers, as the name suggests, sell timber for a living. Thus, they have to cut down trees from the rainforest to support their business. Construction workers cut down rainforests to clear land for construction of buildings.

Tropical rainforests are the areas with the most species of all types of plants and animals on earth, many of which have not yet been discovered.

Tropical rainforests have an extremely thin layer of soil that is easily degraded and/or eroded if the forest around it is removed. The forest is being cut down every day for this purpose, even though agriculture only works for a few years before the soil is destroyed and the farmers have to move further into the forest (and cut it down, too).

Tropical rainforests are a critical source of water and oxygen in our atmosphere; they affect climate and weather around the globe.

Deforestation (people cutting down trees) is the biggest problem facing the rainforest.

Short sighted, greedy people want to sell the lumber so that other people can use the wood to make things like houses. People should be using farmed trees instead, to preserve the rainforests.

Deforestation means the destruction of forests. Forests act as a sink for carbon, as well as turning carbon dioxide daily into oxygen. If enough forests are cut down the world will be affected.

Some people are trying to blame the diminished size of the jungles on big business. The reality is, many of the natives of jungle lands are living longer now because of modern medicine. People from industrialized nations go to 3rd world nations and provide medicine and other resources which result in increased life span and decreased infant mortality. The result is an explosive population. Those people build homes by cutting down sections of the jungle. They provide for their families by turning jungle lands into pasture for cattle and fields for crops. While much of the popular media would attempt to convince you that big business is responsible for the loss of jungle lands, the reality is, most of it goes to the locals, who cut down the trees and sell the wood in the cities as firewood so that they can buy something they need. While big business is not DIRECTLY responsible for most of the loss of the jungle lands, it is responsible for increased life spans and population growth. We must learn that when we take our cures into the jungle, we have a responsibility to also take our population controls.

EDIT: This answer is ridiculous. The natives and population nearby would NEVER in history have been capable of cutting down the rainforest at the rate that is happening currently. A few trees a day, but with big business, suddenly a hundred trees are crashing to the ground day by day. Don't be a fool and claim that the small locals are starting up the engines on they VH3 Tree Tractors or crying with excitement when they vroom up the chainsaws... No it is 90% Big Business and greed that is killing innocent frogs, bugs and animals. They cut down trees and don't shed a tear when bears, frogs, insects and all the variety of animals suffer with the loss of their lives.

The Atlantic Ocean is growing bigger because of two divergent plate boundaries, the Eurasian Plate and the North American Plate. Each year, these two plates move farther and farther apart from the Mid-Atlantic Ridge (MAR). As these plates separate, oceanic lithosphere forms, resulting in the growth of the Atlantic Ocean.

animals start to decrease (decrease down) rain fall will start to decrease since there are no trees. global warming will decrease. when you cut down the rain forest or any trees its bad for us and the animals. even thought its used for paper and stuff like that there also used for habitat's and air for us to breath. habitat's mean a place where animals live.
