What has more memory a laptop or a desktop?
It depends on what the manufacturer put in and if any was added by the buyer. The technical term for memory is RAM (Random Access Memory) You'll have to check the specs to see which computer has more. Popular stock RAM sizes are 512MB and 1GB of RAM. In general, desktops have the capacity to hold more RAM than laptops. Some laptops now hold up to 4GB of RAM, but you'll likely have to buy extra RAM to max it out. Some desktops now how up to 16GB of RAM. Ram is particularly important in Video and Sound editing. If you're simply needing to run Microsoft Office and surf the web, then a laptop with 1GB of RAM is probably all you'll need.

infernosheep: Do not buy dell, they are so cheap. they break so quickly and the customer service is bad. you should avoid buying dell computers. invest in something else, save your time, money and hassle.
Overpriced.
Dells are one of the worst places to buy a computer from. It has one of the highest markups in the industry. Usually, the only ones with higher markup are "pre-assembled gaming rigs" such as Alienware (Which Dell actually owns) and Macs. Their lower priced computers are a few months to years behind their competition's. Their high performance computers have a much higher price tag than a self built or that of a competitor's.
Dell also has a disappointing tech support. Don't expect much more than someone in India reading off a manual when you have a problem.
If you do want a new computer, stay away from Dell and get something from a more or less neutral shopping website.
I have a dell and it is THE worst computer I've ever had in my life. I get unfixable viruses on it, due to windows files able to be edited by the virus (which is a problem other computers don't have, and is also the programmer's mistake). If you do get a virus it attaches itself to a windows file, so when you get a virus protector and it finds the virus, it will delete the entire system file. The next time you restart your computer, you no longer have a computer and you have to do a complete system restore. When this happens you lose everything on your computer. EVERYTHING. You then need to do a complete system restore. When you get your windows system back up, you have a completely clean computer. There's nothing on it. You need to separately download important graphic and video drivers, and drivers that allow you to connect to the internet. Right now I am trying to find an Ethernet driver because this is exactly what happened to me about 3 hours ago for the 2nd time in 3 months. It's happened about 4 times now. Those Cd's that Dell's computer comes with, the ones that download drivers, half of them don't work at all. So I tried to call Dell up to see if they could tell me which drivers I needed just so I could have internet on my computer. I got an Indian woman who barely spoke English. She kept asking me for the express service code. In failing attempts to understand me she transferred me to the wrong service department. I got a nice man who asked me for the same code. I gave it to him, and when I told him my name, he said he couldn't help me because
1) It was the wrong department.
2) The computer wasn't under my company name (wtf)
He also said the right service department probably couldn't help me either for that last reason. I asked him why he couldn't just tell me which driver I needed and he said "because how would you like it if someone stole your computer and asked us for help. YOU wouldn't want us to give them help." How many people in the world sell and trade computers?? How many computers in the world isn't under the original buyer's name?? And how on Earth is that relevant to at all?? So what, now Dell has a nice little moral code that only helps.. hmm, 40% of their customers? Dells are going to be traded, and it's going to be to poor unsuspecting people who don't know enough about computers to know that a Dell is ABSOLUTELY horrible.
A different perspective:
While a small amount of info provided by the pervious answerer is true, Most of it is false. Dell is a good computer for the money and for the performance. And with in comparison to other manufacturers, Dell has the better support response and time to client. This is still poor, but it is the best in the industry. Remember, most people that have to call any tech support for issues and problems with their system, are usually upset and thus, at that moment, any computer would be considered a piece of junk! As far as price, it would depend on what you need it for. You can't just simply buy a Dell from Wal-Mart and expect it to game out of the box. These are usually pre-configured for work, homework and Internet access. If you have a desire for a gamer, as with any computer, you should customize it via the web site of the target computer you are looking for. As for the " India" tech support, this is true to a point. Almost every computer manufacture, as well as software maker, has an Indian tech screening system. If you need parts replaced, then they will transfer you to a Second tier support person, usually (most of the time) in the US. Don't let the previous information dissuade your choice in a Dell. They are descent computers and laptops.

Why do multinationals operate abroad?
Operating in a number of countries gives a company several advantages. The first of these is that the company is able to achieve economies of scale and scope. A company can be cost effective and make more profits if it operates above a critical level. However, its domestic market may be insufficient to achieve this. One solution is to produce locally and export the goods through agents in the h ost country. The second solution is to establish the company;s own trading set-ups abroad. The third is to invest in foreign countries and set up manufacturing facilities locally. All three approaches will provide economies of scale and scope. The last two appraoches would make the company multinational. The story, however, does not end there. A second reaoson why multinational companies set up businesses abroad is to benefit from cost advantages. Labor intensive operations can be shifted to countries that can provide cheap labor. In certain cases availability of raw material might provide an advantage. Tax advantages and incentives could also lead to cost advantages. A third reason for multinational companies to prefer operating in many countries is to spread the risks. If a company puts all its capital in a single country, it is susceptible to the vagaries in that country and can be affected by factors such as general eceonomic depression, interest rate rise, exchange rate variation and so on. Operating from several countries insures the company against such risks.
Which laptop is better dell or hp?
Different people seem to disagree on this.
In todays world of electronics, there are little actual difference between computers, including laptops.
A top model from Dell and a top model from HP are quite compareable in performance. The difference that might matter the most is the pricetag.
Customer support is a very important factor. I have experience with HP and they have actually not been able to help me with any of my problems. That is a big minus in their book, but on the other hand, I do not think companies are much different and I doubt that Dell would be able to help me with similar problems to those I had either.
(I bought a HP in USA, explaining that I am travelling the world and want to watch DVD film on it. The DVD player however is firmware locked to one zone only and I can only change it 3 times. This is so irritating as HP does not want to do anything and they deny responsibility.)
My Laptop otherwise though have been working flawlessly for 5 years now. It never crashes and as long as I keep the vents dustfree, it never overheats.
It has got great inbuildt sound, not just ordinary tiny beepers with metallic sound.
All in all, I can recommend HP.
If I were to buy a new one, then I would compare a lot of details on a few different computers of different brands.
Answer:
Dell is way better then HP here why
- Better battery life
- Better performance
- Better reliability
- You get more bang for your buck
- Dell firmware are much easier to obtain then HP due to the fact that HP fails to publish half of there firmware's online and this leads to making the users have to look over google to find the right firmware.
- Better customer support
- HP laptop overheats allot (and I have had 2 HP laptop)
Who ever think that HP are good are along the lines from ignorant to stupid.
