Yes and they are very hard to train. We have a 2 year old Yorkie that is like a child to us. It took almost a year for him to realize he had to go outside and pottie. They are great dogs once you get them trained but do require a lot of attention. They are very smart dogs. When he knows it is time for bed, he will get his bed out of his cage and bring it to the front room.

when ever they start to bark, hold their favorite treat in front of their nose until they stop, then don't give it to them, and when they stop barking, give it to them. or as soon as they start to bark, put a leash on them, when they bark, pul quickley to the side then put the leash back where it was, but be sure not to pull your dog. it should be in the same spot when you end the correction. it is also a good idea to put them in a sit or down and stay. this tecnique OS very usefull at meal time, t.v. time, or whenever guests arrive. you can also use it to stop your dog from jumping. don't yell at them if they get out of they're sit, down, or stay before you release them... just camly put them back in position and firmly but withought yelling or anger say stay again.

Sen. Sharpe James has once again introduced his annual version of the Responsible Pit Bull Ownership Licensing Act (S801). Nearly identical legislation was introduced and soundly defeated in two previous sessions. S801 would allow a municipality to:

Require a special license for all "pit bulls" ($150-700)-including "American Pit Bull Terriers, American Staffordshire Terriers, Staffordshire Bull Terriers, Staffordshire Terriers and any dog determined to be a pit bull type." Licenses may be denied to anyone who has been convicted of a criminal offense or animal cruelty, as well as anyone who lives with someone convicted of those crimes.

Require anyone who owns a dog to prove that it ISN'T a pit bull (municipality will visually inspect the dog to determine whether it is a pit bull). Very few municipalities have staff with any breed identification knowledge or experience.

Require confinement in a permanent enclosure (including a secure pen AND a 6-ft. fence).

Require pit bulls to be muzzled when off owner's property and leashed (3-feet long or less). Also, the leash must be approved by an animal control officer.

Send an animal control officer to inspect the enclosure and the licensee's property at least monthly.

He is either scenting where he sleeps or is trying to empty his anal sac. Anal sac is positioned just inside his anus and fills with a liquid. It should empty during bowl movement but if not the dog will try to empty it himself by rubbing his bum along the floor or anywhere else he sees fit! You can empty the sac yourself but it's not a nice smell! Go see your vet.
