Why are dragons sometimes know to be fierce?

Dragons are a predatory creature and are known to take the occasional bite out of wandering children and maidens chained to a rock. And for that we've gotten this whole fierce image - as if you couldn't spare one or two of those every now and again - like really your population seriously need curbing so what's wrong with us trying to help? And as for those knights in shining armor coming along and trying to stick lances into us - well what'dyou expect.

Hmm... If you're being honest, I'd suppose you're a dragon as well. Hmm... Which species? I've already got my eyes fixed upon staying single- forever. You know, we aren't all that way, some of us have actually figured out how to get around without needing to take a random bite out of a human. I don't eat humans, normally I go without, but then again, I don't really need to eat anything, anyway.

What is a dragon slayer?

A person who kills dragon, which I really don't get. I mean if it killed someone close to you, I could understand why you'd want to kill it, but why else? It probably has a family, too. Dragon slayer still exist today, which I don't get even more. Its illegal to kill a dragon anyway. A small bird, the Polish wren actually. So named because it was seen pestering a dragon that had wandered near its nest. It was so small and inoffensive the dragon took no notice but the impressionable people who witness the occurrence have given the little bird mythical powers. Oh the power of the press.

How did Draco the dragon get its name?

During the time of the Ottoman empire the nations of the Balkans united to form an order of religious knight to block the advance of the empire into Europe. Just as there was the Knight Templer, the Knights Hospitaler, Teutonic Knights: the Order in the Balkans was The Order of the Dragon. Many surnames from this region of the world take their origins from this order of chivalry. Draco was a dragon who being caught up in the turmoil of the religious wars on a couple of occasions chose to side with the christian forces. This was not a decision of any great reasoning, more of a coin toss sort of situation. He had to assist one side so chose the christian. In gratitude the christian forces awarded him the name Draco in much the same way other Knight chose a Dragon related surname.

What is Dragon Magic?

Someone told me the idea for Dragons came for men. They said that the being of men is in a form of a Dragon because Dragons are fierce and brave. Also they can be docile and the being for women is a Phoenix.I didn't understand why but the belief in Dragons is only real when it is proven.

According to Ursula LeGuin The Dragon language has a real connection to the things that they name and knowing the name of something (in Dragon language) gives you the means to control it. The basis for all Magic in the EarthSea Chronicles was knowing the names of things in Dragon language. Another interesting fact - humans cannot lie in Dragon language but Dragons have no such restriction and are therefore better at it than most humans. Magic that Dragons use. a more aggressive version of regular elemental magic. much more powerfull and not to be trifulled with

Why do dragons wear a medal?

All members of Class Hexapedal have a resistance to heavy-metal poisoning. The trait is quite noticeable even in the earliest members (the lead fish) of this group. Excretions of excess heavy-metals comes out through the scales which causes the colourful displays on many the members (metal-oxides). The displays have reached high complexities in the higher members of the Weir-drags, Sore-drags and the true Fire-dragons, particularly those that horde heavy-metals and can't help nibbling on them. The medals have developed along the lines of sexual dimorphic displays, chest emblems, flank emblems, etc. although there is still considerable variety in all individuals.

Do all dragons come from China?

Dragons are considered legendary creatures in diverse cultures. In most continents can be found tales and legends related with dragons. However, the characteristics of dragons and their description can show wide variations between one culture and other. For example, while Asian dragons are in general benevolent and lucky creatures, European dragons are described as predating on humans with some exceptions as i.e. in Celtic tales. Asian dragons alone, come from China, Japan, Korean, Vietnam, Thailand and many other places. They are distinguished from each other by the number of claws that they have on the feet. Chinese dragons have five claws, Japanese have three. The basic rules being the further from China you get the less claws (toes) the dragon has.

Does anyone have any info on Mordred son of King Arthur of Camelot?

Mordred was King Arthur's son. His mother was either Morgan or Morgause, who were both King Arthur's half-sisters, and thus he was both Arthur's son and nephew, and his grandmother Igraine was his twice grandmother.

Because Mordred was an illegitimate child, he was considered the 'devil's spawn', 'unnatural' and 'born evil'. Merlin predicted that Mordred would kill King Arthur, his own father.

Because of how he is written in the legends, people tend to think he was a horrible, evil, cruel, tyrannical monster who killed the Great King Arthur. However, King Arthur was not as great as everyone thought- he attempted to kill Mordred to save his own life.

Merlin told King Arthur that Mordred would kill him one day. So, Arthur gathered up all the noble-born baby boys who were born on May Day (the day of Mordred's birth) Then, he set the 40 infant boys on a small boat out to sea to die. There was a storm and the coracle (boat) was destroyed and shipwrecked. Of course, by trying to avoid your fate, you only aid it- Mordred was the only survivor, and he was found by a fisherman and looked after by his wife.

This fueled his hate for Arthur.

All of Mordred's life in Camelot was spent being mocked, hated, and feared. No one loved him after he left his fishermother. Some say he was knighted, some say he wasn't, although his name is present on the Winchester Round Table, and he is usually considered a Knight of the Round Table. Some say he was Arthur's best friend, but usually in retellings they always hated each other. Some, more sympathetic retellings, say he fought his fate to the end. Some say he welcomed it.

There is also the matter of Lancelot's affair with Guinevere. Mordred is often credited with being the one who exposed them to Arthur, out of spite, out of hate. Lancelot escaped to France, and Arthur tried to find him. Meanwhile, Mordred took over Camelot in Arthur's absence. This led to the Battle of Camlann as Mordred refused to relinquish the throne back to Arthur upon his return.

At the Battle, Mordred fought Arthur hand-to-hand. It is usually Mordred's determination that kills Arthur- he runs forwards and is speared on Arthur's lance but his force allows him to drive himself further up the shaft and strike Arthur the fatal blow. Arthur is taken to Avalon to be healed but dies.

There's a lot to know about Mordred- like any character or human being he cannot be summed up neatly, and as a character of legend he has many variations, even in things as simple as his parentage (whether he Morgause's son or Morgan's varies on the myth or retelling)- but that basically sums it up.

He wasn't a villain; like Morgan le Fay, he was misunderstood. No child is born evil and Mordred lived with a terrible destiny all his life.
