What are the different types of eating disorders?

there's many different types of eating disorders, along with those which don't fit into a certain category; those are known as EDNOS (eating disorder not specified).

the main three eating disorders are anorexia, bulimia and BED (binge-eating disorder), but there is also CED (compulsive exercise disorder), anorexia binge-purge type, Orthorexia nervosa (eating only 'health' foods) and Pica (eating inedible substances, among others.

There is also other types which medically fall into the EDNOS catogory, like 'chew and spit' and purging disorder, as the boundaries of eating disorders can easily become blurred.

How do you know if you have binge eating disorder?

The following five criteria should be met for a patient to be diagnosed with Bulimia Nervosa: # Recurrent episodes of binge eating. An episode of binge eating is characterized by both of the following: ## Eating, in a fixed period of time (e.g., within any two-hour period), an amount of food that is definitely larger than most people would eat during a similar period of time and under similar circumstances. ## A sense of lack of control over eating during the episode (e.g., a feeling that one cannot stop eating or control what or how much one is eating). # Recurrent inappropriate compensatory behavior in order to prevent weight gain, such as self-induced vomiting; misuse of laxatives, diuretics or other medications; fasting; or excessive exercise. # The binge eating and inappropriate compensatory behaviors both occur, on average, at least once a week for three months. # Self-evaluation is unduly influenced by body shape and weight. # The disturbance does not occur exclusively during episodes of anorexia nervosa.

What is an eating disorder in which a person strongly fears gaining weight and starves himself or herself?

There are two major psychiological disorders for that behavior: anorexia and bulimia. Anorexia is when someone has a distorted image of him/herself and always sees him/herself to be "overweight" and starves. Anorexia results in a huge weight loss and is usually found to be affecting girls from high-achieving families (out of a pool of girls that have eating disorders). Bulimia is similar to anorexia in the sense that one thinks he/she is overweight, and starves. However, bulimics tend to starve for a while then go on an eating binge only to puke it out or use laxatives. Bulimics usually are at a "healthy" weight or slightly overweight, although their eating habits are completely unhealthy.

How many pounds can you lose in a week by not eating?

quite honestly it depends on the person... but if you want to loose weight then you need to exersise... alot.. while weight loss products may work it is proven by me that you will, i say again will, feel more comfortable and proud that you did it by hard work ( sounds weird at first but trust me) if you dont work for it then it is not worth it.. put the work in.. A lot. Every person responds differently to a starvation diet. However, the body (when deprived of food) stores what little fat you have left and doesn't allow you to burn it. When you start eating again, your body will hold onto the fat until your diet stabalizes. Starvation diets are never good for the body, you lose muscle rather than fat and become very weak.

If you vomit after eating are any of the calories extracted from the food?

I read somewhere that some calories will be absorbed. You have to eliminate the food before it hits the intestinal tract. I'm looking for the same answers. How fast do you need to eliminate the food before any calories are absorbed. Usually within 30 minutes. It's not a good idea to do this. By being bulimic you can have malnutrition and dehydration which can lead to electrolyte imbalances and heart arrhythmias.

How can you lose weight quickly if you are not having good results from trying to starve yourself?

Yes, there actually is. Never use diet pills, they don't work. The average calories to eat a day when you are on a diet is 1200. Just Excersise for 2 hours a day for about 2 weeks and you will lose around 10 pounds. But make sure you're eating the right things, like grain and meat that's not really fat. It doesnt really matter about the calories its what you eat, just make sure you burn it off. You lose 65 calories a hour when you sleep.

Answerliposuction or maybe cutting off a limb or two. otherwise, no, you have to do it the longer, healthier way.

1200 calories to me would be like staving myself..

The recommended daily calorie intake varies depending on how old you are. For the average adult this is about 2000 per day (women) and 2500 per day (men). These calories should be made up of foods from the main food groups.

If youre trying to lose weight you could start by eating 500 less calories per day. This should help as long as your diet is well-balanced and youre getting lots of exercise.

The key thing is to seek medical help (rehab or treatment centers) do help you gain health back the proper way, nutritiously. Having therapy sessions is usually really helpful, and invite your friends and family to go only for a few. It can really help. Make sure you build up trusts with family and friends. You will need their support, and if they really care for you then they will be there to give you that support. Try to avoid fashion magazines or similar tv shows. Those can set of the anorexia again. Take up an activity like a sport or hobby to keep your mind busy and to give you something to do.
