It would be legal, I think, if a student and teacher marry each other after the student is no longer a real "student" of that school or any school. However, you'd have to have the student's agreement to marry them and I don't think any teachers should be marrying people they have taught.

Legally it is allowed if the student is over the age of 18. Some places might allow it if they are over 16, with parental permission. I've known it to happen in two instances. One was a high school student who married a teacher after graduation. The other was a college professor who married a student.

In regards to a lawsuit allegations such as slander, defamation of character, and so on and so forth are very difficult to substaniate even with credible witnesses. Not being versant in that type of civil litigation it is strictly a personal observation. Parents should always defend and uphold the rights of their children regardless of whether litigation issues prove valid or not.

All teachers have a degree and teacher training. However, the general level of teaching here is very poor compared to the west. Often it is by rote (aka Victorian methods) and no concern is given to students who ignore the lesson. Copying is not merely rife, but a stapple of many students. Due to face problems there is often cheating - with teachers giving the answers on request or students resitting the same exam time and time again until they get it right - during exams and students pass exams that they would not be able to given real invigilation.

That is not uncommon. My advice is to stay away from that relationship because it's neither healthy nor longlasting and in addition and most importantly it's ILLEGAL

I know teachers making $100 per hour and $25 per hour. It really does depend on your reputation and experience/education.

The answer above is very good. I started out teaching piano in high school and earned about $30/hour. Basically I charged $15/lesson and did 30-minute lessons. Now, after 10 years of teaching experience and 2 years of college music classes, I make $45 per hour and have 23 students. You will make the most money by being in business for yourself but building clientele can be a slow process. You have to be in it for the long haul and truly love it. If you work at someone's studio you will be lucky to make $12/hour. The more education you have, the more you can charge to an extent. Most people will not pay you $100/hour regardless of how educated you are. Having any credential will make you more marketable and help you command a better salary. There is a new online school called the Wyndham Academy of Music that offers a short-term Diploma in Piano Education. You can check out their website at www.becomeapianoteacher.com I would recommend at least doing that so that you have some formal training and a proper credential. You will make more money that way.
