THE CANNISTER IS ON THE PASSENGER SIDE RIGHT NEXT TO THE FRONT RIGHT SIDE OF THE FUEL TANK, IF YOU DROP THE TANK WITH OUT DISCONNECTING THE LINE COUPLER IT WILL BREAK IT OFF, I KNOW I DID IT, IT IS EASY TO SEE AND REMOVE AFTER YOU DISONNECT THE 3 hoses connected to it

The white smoke coming from the exhasut is a sign then engine has a blown head gasket. Coolant is getting into the combustion chamber and appears as white smoke at the exhaust. Maybe this is why the car has sat for 2 years?

Probably a bad fuel petcock on the bottom of the tank. It is vacuum operated so it will not flow fuel unless the engine is running. (Safety feature) My older '79 GS has a "prime" setting on the petcock that allows the fuel to bypass the vacuum shutoff and run straight into the carbs (thus filling the floatbowls should the engine not be able to start due to lack of fuel in the carbs.) Either you have a bad petcock or you are checking it in the "ON" position. If you have "prime" it should flow fuel without a problem. If not there may be dirt in the petcock or other internal problems. Hope this helps. Mark in NE Indiana. _____ I just fixed my 1983 GS750E which had a fuel flow issue with the petcock. After disassembly of the petcock it was found that the fuel valve o-ring would tack itself to the sealing surface, thus, not allowing fuel to flow. Nothing in particular. Water dripping from the tailpipe is normal. It's just condensation from the combustion process. It is much more prevalent in newer vehicles due mostly to their anti-pollution technologies.

Actually it is getting too much gas. Black smoke is an indication of an overly rich fuel mixture.

White smoke is caused by water and or antifreeze entering the cylinder, and the engine trying to burn it with the fuel. The white smoke is steam. There are special gaskets (head gaskets are the primary gaskets) that keep the antifreeze from entering the cylinder area. The cylinder is where the fuel and air mixture are being compressed and burned. Any amount of antifreeze that enters this area will produce a white steam that will be present at the tailpipe area. If white smoke is present, check to see if the proper amount of antifreeze is inside the radiator and the overflow bottle. Also check to see if antifreeze has contaminated the engine oil. You can look at the engine oil dipstick, or look at the under side of the engine oil filler cap. If the oil is contaminated with antifreeze, it will have the appearance of a chocolate milkshake. Do not start the engine if the oil is contaminated with antifreeze, as serious internal engine damage can result. How did antifreeze get in the oil or cylinder in the first place? The engine probably overheated and a head gasket failed due to excessive heat, thus allowing antifreeze to enter the cylinder (Where it is not meant to be).

It varies from state to state. And, most classics, didn't have emission equiptment, other than maybe a PCV valve. (Positive crankcase ventilation.) The catalytic converter was 74, along with the EGR, and "smog pump."

"GEET" is the name of Paul Pantone's company: Global Environmental Energy Technology. Fuel reformers can crack fuel into shorter chain hydrocarbons and hydrogen rich gases.

Fuel reformers have been around a long time. They utilize an endothermic chemical reaction that requires heat and a catalyst or heat and a plasma or both a catalyst and plasma together.

Paul Pantone's fuel reformer is a unique type of plasma fuel reformer because it does not require an external electrical power source. Rather, it builds electrostatic potential similar how thunderstorms do when lightning is created and that static build up along with a partial vacuum establishes a plasma inside the GEET fuel reformer.

The engine exhaust supplies the heat source for the endothermic reaction, therefore much of the otherwise wasted heat energy is returned to the engine in the form of shorter hydrocarbon molecules with higher potential energy than the same mass as longer chain hydrocarbons. The process is similar "steam reforming" which cracks hydrogen from both hydrocarbon vapors and the water steam. Steam reforming is the primary method used worldwide for the production of hydrogen. However a plasma fuel reformer can operate at lower temperatures than are usually required for catalytic steam reforming.

Many vehicle's in France have installed the GEET fuel reformer but it seems to get bad press in the USA.

Regarding fuel reformers in general, they have been around since the beginning of the auto industry but auto makers won't sell cars with them. In 1974, JPL engineers published an SAE report about their work demonstrating that fuel reformers provide better fuel economy and cleaner air.

Regarding the powered plasma fuel reformer mentioned above that was developed by MIT and Arvin Meritor, after years of studies to demonstrate how well it works and shortly before its deployment to the USA auto industry, the company One Equity Partners bought out the division of Arvin Meritor that did the final development and they shut down its deployment to the auto industry. Now that division is called Emcon Technologies and now they make primarily systems to clean the exhaust. The only systems they sell that improve fuel economy are ones with minimal fuel economy improvement compared to the canceled fuel reformer.
