Horn not working fiat punto active but not fuse - any suggestions?
It is important to have a horn working for safety reasons. If the fuse or relay is working then it would be best to check the clock spring behind the vehicles steering wheel.

fiat punto ecu is bolted onto the throttle housing (manifold) remove air filter and at rear of throttle housing you will see 2 x multiplugs (release by swinging clips 90 degrees) these plug into ecu (4 bolts) Unfortunately new or replacement ECU,s need reprogramming. Although if changing an engine over you must swap Ecu and keep original or key won,t identify code.
How do you replace the heater switch bulb in fiat punto?
I've just changed the heater illumination bulbs on the punto 07. take out the radio with 4 round 2" nails in the holes on front. undo the cage that holds the radio. pull off the panel under the heater nobs by downwards and there is 2 screws near the edge. take these out and the heater unit will come lose then the front is clipped in place at the top and bottom but be careful not to brake it. take this away and the bulbs are behind the transparent plastic held with 1 screw in middle

A pipe inside the rear hatch has diconnected, simply remove the plastic inner panel inside the hatch and reconnect

If the level is slack, then the bonnet release cable has snapped.
You'll have to jack the car up, and access / pull the cable from underneath.
I jacked up the car, placed it on a stand on the passenger side, and reached up underneath.
I've videoed it - quick to do once you see it.

What does city mean on the dashboard of your fiat punto?
It means that "City Mode" or "City Steering" is active.
This is a mode that applies additional electronic assistance to the steering, making it lighter and more responsive, especially useful for tight manouevers at speeds under 35mph.
There will usually be a button marked "City" or with a steering wheel icon on the dashboard that will toggle this setting on and off.
It is telling you that you have run out of petrol. Put petrol in the tank and this warning light will go out.

hya i had the same problem with mine one day it was working then while driving it just went off
if the speedo is electrics ratha than speedo cable then it is the speedo sensor that bolts into the gearbox it should have a connector up from the sensor cable (blue cable) unclip it from there and unbolt i bought sensor from local scrapyard for £10 and replaced it took 5 min easy job hope this helps

I would say the gearbox is on the way out as i had the same problem and i had to replace the gearbox. and as you have a Mk1 Fiat Punto gearboxes are plentyful and cheap. but decide this age of car value of car and millage. and ask your self is it realy worth it as 1996 P reg puntos are only worth ?4-500. and it will cost you ?150-200 to replace the gearbox. Shudder can be caused by a defective clutch assembly And or broken/weak engine or gearbox mountings

Sorry, seriously, it could be any number of problems, but a common issue is the "Mass Air Flow Meter" which is located in the air intake system to the engine and sits next to the Battery just rearward of the air filter box. A quick test is to disconnect the electrical connector on this unit and try the vehicle again. I have been running a 1.9JTD with this sensor disconnected for over 7 months now and the economy and performance are better than it has ever been. It flew through MoT last month as far as emissions are concerned with the comment of "it must be running on fresh air" from the tester!!
