Where were ancient Greek sculptures located in Greece?
Where else would expect the ancient Greek sculptures to be other than in Greece. You wil, bowever find some good ones which were removed legally and illegally in museums around the world - try Paris, Berlin, London - the ones there are usually in much better condition than those in Greece, as in recent years the acid rain in places like Athens has defaced statues, and the Greeks did little to prevent this: many of the 'good' ones on display in Athens are copies made of the good ones held overseas.

Are there evil faces in Lindberg's guardian angel painting?
(Note: it is a known aspect of human visual observation that the mind will form images of "faces" and other familiar forms, even where these are not intentionally depicted. It is impossible to tell if a detail was purposely added to a painting or if it exists solely through the imagination of the viewer.)
--- I've had this picture since I was a very young child. I am now almost 60 years old. The picture had a green foil type frame. My sister now has the picture. I purchased another one like it except it has the red foil on the frame. Someone pointed out to me what looks like the image of the devil over the little boys hat. From what I see it looks exactly like a devil. The way I take this is the devil is trying to hurt the children, but the beautiful Guardian Angel is there protecting them. I cannot find out anything about this. Hope someone can enlighten me on it.
My girlfriend's parents have this painting and it does look like a devil figure. If you look past the angel, the black area that lines the outside of the angels body and wing it makes an image of a boy with his mouth open as if staring scared.
Hi, I learned of this picture through a church I went to when I was a teenager and this is how I heard of this story ... There was a man who was tired of being poor.. he loved to paint but wasn't very good at it and he saw many people making good money from painting.. He made a deal with the devil..He told the devil "I will give you my soul if you can make me a great painter so that I can make lots of money" well the devil had to add his own twist to the story.. He said to the man sure but you have to paint what I say and add what I want you to add... well the man agreed .. The paintings that this man was to paint was was to give false hope..the devil said to the man "I want you to make paintings of angels protecting others but in it I want you to put symbols of me inside it.. so that when others hang these paintings in there home they will be seeing me and not God.." In the painting "Guardian Angel" or " Heilige Schutzengel" there were several symbols hidden in this painting .. upside down crosses , faces of the devil, and of a goat ... now I haven't seen this painting in many years so I cant exactly show you where they are but I know they are there.. If any one has a painting of this in there home I urge that you do your research of angels in the bible and please take this picture or figurines out of your home .. if you chose to keep this pic in your home to use as a teaching tool please place it face side down.
I had a friend several years ago to point me out 3 skull faces in this painting, they were plain as day! It spooked me somewhat, also the picture to me, it may mean well or whatever, I don't know, but from the images my friend pointed out, I seen 3 skulls, one was in the Angel's hair, but also other stuff in it that looked satanic. I wish someone knew the secret behind the picture.
i personally have had this picture (one of the originals) hanging above my brothers bed when we used to share a room when we were younger. we knew nothing of the hidden images in this picture. although throughout the time it was hanging there me and my brother would have horrible dreams of satanic things. waking up in the middle of the night seeing demons and other evil figures. never knew that it had anything to do with something so simple as a picture. somehow my parents ended up finding out about this picture and they took it out of our house and burned it (we were young enough at the time that my parents wouldn't show us what they saw in the picture because they didn't want to scare us) but i got curious and started looking for it. I haven't seen everything because i cant find a picture big enough to really see everything all i can see is the Mary with horns praying (behind the children in the angels robe..she is turned to the right) but i know of other people who have seen the other things that are hidden this picture. after dealing with the evil presents of the devil and his followers and seeing them..this is a picture that i would advise anyone who has it so get rid of it. its not something you want to mess with.

What does characteristics mean in art?
Personally I have trouble with that question too. But I felt I should change the answer that you first got. Your first answer was, "What does the word characteristics mean?" With emphasis on the phrase, "The word." To answer your question, characteristics of a word is the traits of the word. Emphasising that it is OF the word. Just like characteristics are the traits of a person. Except this time its the traits of the word. I hope it helped :)

Who was the influential patron of the arts in Florence?

What is the difference between a collotype and a lithograhph?
Both the collotype and lithograph are from the printmaking world of art, in which the image is rendered on a "plate", inked and run through a printing press.
In lithography, the plate may be a litho stone or a piece sheet metal. The image is drawn (in reverse) on the plate with a lithography pencil. An artist will often draw from a mirror which is reflecting his visual reference in reverse, so that she/he can draw it in reverse so that the final printed image will be oriented correctly.
The collotype's plate is a board (matte board, illustration board, etc.) that has been built up or cut into keeping in mind that the raised areas print out differently than the low areas. Therefore, it is a relief print. The surface area of the plate needs to be prepared for printing to prevent the ink and other substances used in the printmaking process from soaking into the plate. I prefer polyurethane.

What is a component of every great work of art?
Since every work of art is unique, it would be very difficult to say. However, we can start with some ideas:
1. It must be unique. A work of art must be something that has not been done before. This is partly a test of the imagination of the artist and partly to serve the viewer's desire to be enlightened. To be given and to receive something new.
2. It must show craftsmanship. This does not mean that the art must be perfect by a set definition, but within the parameters set by its own context.
3. It must have meaning, and that meaning must be clear. Even if the meaning is itself a communication of the idea of ambiguity, then that must also be clear, because:
4. It must communicate. And furthermore, the tools to understand its message must be contained within the work itself, as far as possible. When art becomes dated, the context is removed further and further from us, and the rules may need to be sought out by studying the historical context. However, knowing the context, we should be able to unravel the meaning.
5. It must be beautiful. Even if that beauty is terrible or frightening. That means it must touch us on a mysterious level that is beyond mere intellect.
6. It must stimulate and inspire. Art is an intensification, a magnification, of its subject matter, whatever that may be. It must give the viewer more than the thing itself would.
7. It must endure. Great art must stand the test of time. For this reason, it is even more important for the context and the tools for understanding the art to be, either: included in the work, or: so universal that we need no tools beyond the work itself to understand it.
8. It must elevate. It must take us beyond the banal, even if only through stimulating our thoughts to go beyond normal thinking.
9. It must have clarity. If the meaning is not clear, the art has no definite meaning, and has not communicated properly. This draws together many of the previous rules.
10. It must have presence. All art is made out of materials that are taken from the world, but the art object must be an artefact. There isn't room here to go into the many ways of acheiving this, or the implications for found materials (aren't all materials found?)
11. It must be over 50 years old. This is grossly general. However, before this amount of time, it is not possible to stand back and be truly certain of whether it has endured, still has clarity, and is truly great art. A new generation has to also give their blessing, so that its enduring greatness can be verified.
