What is the appropriate emergency response to a Red Velvet Ant sting?
You probably only need emergency medical help if the person appears to be having an allergic reaction (hives, difficulty breathing, extreme swelling) or has been stung multiple times by multiple wasps. Otherwise basic first aid will suffice as while the sting is extremely painful it is not toxic. Clean the area with soap and water and remove any remaining parts of the insect. Apply an antibiotic cream and bandage. Keep clean until it heals.
What drug is given for nerve agent exposure if seizure activity is possible or is present?
There is a kit Called Mark I. It is carried by Paramedics and military medics mainly after sept 11, 2001. It is in the form of a autoinjection pen sort of like the epi pens carried by people with extreme allergies (bee stings, Peanuts ect...) There are two drugs. the first drug is atropine. Atropine works on the body to dry up the secretions caused by . the nerve agent. the second drug is pralidoxime chloride that helps the body block the nerve agent
you would also want a anti convulsant on hand. Versed is a strong benzo that is perferred. I hope that answed your question. I am a Paramedic that has recieved extensive training in nerve agens since that dreaded day in 2001. Good luck

No you could imagine every child is different in their own regards and when it came to bedtime he was on another level.
The first three months were fairly predictable. Every three hours up for feedings and changings. Around the four-month mark, it all changed.
Bedtime became dreadful. It was like he could sense it was coming and the hysterics would begin. Constant crying and screaming it was not only unbearable it was heartbreaking.
We were puzzled. We had never experienced episodes of this magnitude with our first two. When I say we tried everything we did.
Baths right before bed…….
Bottle of formula right before bed…
We even would let him “cry it out” as horrible as it sounds, it was.
After a couple of weeks of dealing with this, we had to find a solution.

How do you do closed fist bandaging?
Have the patient open their hand and place the padded part of the bandage on it with a small amount hanging over. Then, ask them to close their fist and stick their thumb out (this is so you can check their circulation later). Then wrap the bandage around their closed fist in a figure-of-eight. Then tie the ends together. You should then regularly press on the nail of the sticking out thumb. The nail-bed will go white, and then return to the usual pink. This should take 1 second. This method of checking circulation is called capillary refill.
