A good way to preserve leaves' color is to start by ironing the leaves for a few minutes between two sheets of paper towel. Afterwards, arrange the leaves between sheets of wax paper. Seal the wax paper by ironing it between pieces of brown-bag paper.

it depends on how much of each and what shade of each color but usually you get a different shade of brown.

To dry roses, flip them upside down (to ensure they dry straight) and spray periodically with hairspray.

Professionals might use a glycerin solution when drying flowers, however, upside down and hairspray will provide sufficient results for most "at home" dryers.

This is only a suggestion that will perhaps get some response from others. I have used Glycerin to preserve plants such as umbrella plant with gree dye added. If you want to save the natural colors, which will not be the excat as when fresh, Do Not add dye. Use the key word Glycerin to search and read more about using this as a way to preserve flowers. One thing you have to do is to start the process when the plant is still looking good. For example if the edges of the flower/plant have already started to dry the glycerin will not restore the dried pieces I have a lovely bird of paradise that I'm going to try this with, Good Luck!

The best 'liquid' to maintain flowers in is the following:

--A sugar/water solution (the ideal proportions may take some experimenting)

--something that lowers the pH of the water and keeps bacteria and fungi from growing, like a biocide.

Using this method can make fresh flowers last for as much as 30 days or more!
