What is the first year for the 302 in a mustang?

The 302 was an option in 1968 ( 289 was also available in 1968 )

How do you route the serpentine belt on 5.0 without the ac or smog pump?

To route the belt WITHOUT the A/C or Smog Pump you should follod this route moving clockwise. Around the ALTERNATOR pulley, below the tensioner pulley, over and around the POWER STEERING pulley, Below and around the CRANK pulley, above and around the WATER PUMP pulley, back to the ALTERNATOR pulley THIS SHOULD BE THE BEST ROUTE ALSO You Must get a shorter Serpentine belt. The tensioner pully will tighten it up a little bit but not enough. You must find a shorter belt that still has 6 ribs on the underside. Im unsure of the exact length you will need but im assuming it's going to be around a 60" belt. Another option is buying the Smog pump and A/C eliminator kits so you san use your belt you have on now and still get the same effect. I hope I have been of some help to you.

What could cause the temperature gauge on 1965 mustang 289 to read cold all the time?

I had the same problem with my 1970 mustang. First take the wire off of the Temperature sending unit (usually on the front of the block) and ground out the wire and see if the gauge goes up on the dash. if so it is just a temperature sending unit. They cost about 7 dollars.

What parts are interchangeable on mustangs for mustangs?

This question is too broad. Depending on how you look at cars, they are either simple to understand, or incomprehensible: simplify by specifying a year, a model (fastback, coupe or "notchback", Shelby...) engine size if you know but the number of variables will be vastly reduced just by following the first two steps. Year to year, and engine to engine, there are lots of swappable parts on mustangs. As with any old and/or collectible cars, "Hemmings Motor News" is a veritable "Pick-n-Pull" in your mailbox(that's the way I got it when I was in my car thing, it must be online...) with a lot of info and resources. simplify by specifying a year, a model (fastback, coupe or "notchback", Shelby...) engine size if you know but the number of variables will be vastly reduced just by following the first two steps. Year to year, and engine to engine, there are lots of swappable parts on mustangs, but start with an answerable question.

What is the difference between a 1964.5 mustang and a 1964 mustang?

Nothing really. Typically new model year vehicles in the US are introduced in September of the year before. The 1964 Mustang was introduced on April 17 of 1964 at the World's Fair. Other 1964 model year vehicles were introduced in September of 1963. All 1964 1/2 Mustangs were given 1965 U.S. federal VIN numbers at the time of production, with limited exception to the earliest of promotional vehicles.

1998 Ford Mustang tune up?

Tune Up Overview for 1998 Mustang

The tune up process for 1996 to 2004 Mustangs (both V6 and V8) consists of air filter cleaning or replacing; spark plug and ignition wire replacement; and a fuel filter change. In general, a tune up ensures that your car is getting air, fueland spark.

The air filter is accessible within the engine bay on the passenger side (see link titled "How to Replace Cold Air Intake on Mustangs" for more information on removing an air filter). Shaking out the loose dirt and gently brushing it may be adequate although replacement filters are usually under $15.

Spark plugs and ignition wires are located towards the top of each side of the engine on 4.6L cars and down on the sides of the engine (by the exhaust manifolds) on the 3.8/3.9L engines. You will need a special socket and universal joints to remove them.

All 1998 Mustangs will have ignition wires coming from one or more coil packs to each plug--remove and replace one at a time to avoid confusion.

The fuel filter is located just forward of the fuel tank and may have a special fitting that requires an A/C disconnect tool. In either case, fuel system should be depressurized by unplugging the emergency fuel shutoff switch (behind driver side trunk panel) and letting the car run until it runs out of gas. Then raise the rear of the car and remove clips and clamps to replace fuel filter. Make sure the arrow on the new fuel filter is in the same direction as the original one.

More Detailed Instructions

More detailed tune up instructions can be found in a standard Haynes which you can get at Amazon or a local auto parts store. Another option is "Maintain Your Mustang Volume 1: Tune Up". This is a DVD course offered to 1996-2004 Mustang owners that want to learn how to perform a tune up (see link for more information).

What would cause the rear end on a 2006 Ford Mustang GT to shutter before correcting itself when accelerating from a dead stop?

You are breaking traction and experiencing "wheel hop". It is normal and can be reduced (traction improved) with a good set of upper and lower control arms.

How does one change the brake lights on a 1985 Chevy Impala?

open trunk & you'll notice about 6-8 torx screws. on the top of the light section. remove these screws, and tilt the housing towards you. then you should see 3 electrical conections. some have locks like a "medicine bottle top". twist & pull out connection. the bulb should be there. there is 2 stop & tail light bulbs, and 1 park light bulb, and the reverse light too. now is a good time to check them all since you are there. some tail lights are square and some are long, but the same procedure applies. ( some have hold downs for the light section added in the trunk to hold assembely also.) to remove these fastners it is necessary to pull back carpet by the trunk lock, and you will see them. if it dosent come out the first way you must remove these as well. reverse to install. hope this helps.

Gun Trade shows, most likely. E-Bay may be considered, as well. I've got a Crackshot 26, but it was my Great-Grandmother's. Not for sale!

How do you replace the DPFE sensor on a 2001 Ford Escape?

3.0L Escape DPFEMy girlfriend's 2002 Escape just had this issue. It was throwing a P0401 EGR Flow Insufficient code at about 40 mph. Hers is a 3.0L V-6, hopefully yours is as well. The sensor is on the EGR tube from the exhaust manifold to the intake. There are 2 parallel smaller tubes that rise vertically from it, directly in line from the throttle body to the firewall. At the top of that is a little black box with 2 hose nipples on the bottom and a 3-wire electrical connector. That is your DPFE sensor (at least on the 3.0). To replace it, unplug it, pull the hoses from the pipes, transfer the hoses to your new sensor, slide the hoses and sensor onto the parallel tubes, and plug it in. Clear your code and you're done.

Make sure you get a Motorcraft sensor. The aftermarket ones usually do not work. You can get them on Ebay cheaper than from the dealer

The Motorcraft DPFE sensor is 4U7Z-9J460-AA. This is an upgrade from the original sensor which was a bit smaller and had the stock number 2FIE-9J460-AB.

Ford Mustang knocking sound when vehicle first started then goes away after vehicle is warms up?

HMMM. have you checked your oil pressre to make sure that it is up to specs on the pressure? I would say, either you have an oilpump that is weak, and takes awhile to get up to pressure or else....you have very loud lifter noise....when lifters wear out they start bleeding off oil thus collapsing the lifter....this causes there to be a gap between the top of the lifter and bottom of the rocker arm, thus causing a knock or tick, until the oil fills the lifter and expands it.....this causes the gap to dissappear and also the knock or tick. Replacing the lifters will fix this; if this is the cause.... Oil pressure could also cause a knock in the lower half of the engine...but this usually always will knock and not silence much as the engine warms.....the main bearings, that surround the crank shaft, have grooves in them called "OIL GALLEY" or "OIL PASSAGE"...when the bearings wear the oil galleys are worn down and will resrtict oil, thus lowering oil pressure and creating a knocking sound...This is BAD news and a large repair bill! Can a 289 fit in a 1964 mustang?

Yes, though there is really no such thing as a 1964 Mustang.

The first mustangs were produced in the spring of 1964 and were marketed as 1965 models, the early versions of these cars (prior to several changes such as the introduction of the 289 and the padded dash) will be termed 1964 1/2 models by enthusiasts.

How do you pop the lock on a Ford Mustang?

5 cm cubed of C4 just above the Keyhole.

Stand well back.

ANS2:The first answer will undoubtedly work if you don't mind a fair amount of body repair afterwards...Try straightening out a coat hanger, inserting it between the door frame and the glass and pressing the unlock button. Wrap the wire with electrical or duct tape to avoid scratching the paint.

I have successfully unlocked two cars by trying keys that 'come close' including Mazda with a Ford key and a Chevy truck with a Kawasaki key. Keep a little pressure on the key while you jiggle it.

Is the 1994 mustang gt faster than 1998 mustang gt?

Out of the box I would say the 98 given the right driver could win that battle. However the 94 with a pushrod V8 will tend to have much more torque down low whereas the 98 breathed a bit more up top. I prefer the 94 as the engine is larger and cheaper to upgrade.AnswerI'm not sure which one breaks down faster, the 94 had problems with the heads, and the 98 has the cracked rod problem...

you asked for it..

drive safely

The 94/95 were in no way faster than the later Mustangs. Yeah, yeah they had better torque throughout lower rpm's, but the 281 was a brand new motor in 96. The 302 came out in what year 196?'s. The 94/95 will have it off the line, but as soon as you reach for the first shift the 96+ will be gaining it back. No high speed race would ever even compare. The rev happy OHC motors will take the race anytime.

idk ive driven both and the 94 95 are faster andi belive 96-98 are the slowest v8 for mustangs that's why they changed it in 99
