I have heard that one can loosen the motor and transmission and hold the motor up with a hoist and lower the carriage instead of pulling out the whole motor in order to take out the transmission. This will allow one to keep all the odds and ends still affixed to the motor above while one replaced/fixed the transmission. I know that I pulled out the power steering unit this way without having to pull the motor. My ex-wife got her transmission fixed in a Taurus this way.

My 96 Ford Taurus gl OHV had 2 when I pulled the exhaust off to replace the tyranny.

Near the firewall , where the transmission ( transaxle ) is bolted to the engine

remove 2 screws holding it on , use a ratcheting wrench with a small Phillips head. Remove harness & repeat to install. The 2 screws are on pretty tight so be careful not to strip them out. This is about 20$ at Auto Zone.

First make sure that the fuses are all OK. Then check the window relays. Then check to see if the other windows move up-down. If they do then the problem is with that window only.

It could be the motor is jammed. A jammed motor can somtimes be enticed to work by holding the window switch in the up mode while slamming the door. It could be the control switch is dirty. It could be that you have to take the door panel off and check to see what is binding the lift mechanism. Many such motors have a thermal cutout when they can't close the window they tend to overheat and then disconnect - cutout. It may be that it is opened.

If the car is older there is more dirt accumulated at the control switches. You may have to take that apart or off and buy some CONTACT cleaner or tuner cleaner from Radio Shack or somewhere and spray INTO the switches while moving the switches.

It is also possible that one of the control wires fell off - highly unlikely but possible.

I would go to the library and borrow a book on how to remove the door panel.

The are two Phillips head screws below the parking light assembly that are attached to the splash guard, remove the two screws and then parking light assembly should pull out from the header panel.

This may be a simple fix.... Ford door and trunk locks are notorius for "freezing up". Buy a can of lithium spray grease, insert the stem that comes with the can into the lock, and spray the lock with the lithium grease lubricant. This may free it up. You should lubricate the locks on your doors and trunk at least once a year. Note: This will also work on the locks to your house. It keeps them operating smoothly. If that doesn't work, perhaps you don't have the correct key for the trunk. Many Ford vehicles require one key for the doors and a different key for the trunk.

Park the car is a quiet location and turn the ignition key on but do not start the engine. Listen carefully for the sound of the fuel pump. The TCC Solenoid is located on the valve body. In order to reach the unit you have to remove the Battery and Battery housing, Air Filter housing & Assembly, And the wiring harness brackets. You then have to support the rear of the engine and remove the Crossmember located behind the drivers side front wheel. There are 5 bolts and 1 mounting bolt. The TCC is secured by 2 bolts directly to the valve body. It is hard but this can be changed with the transaxle still in the vehicle.

The cooling system on this vehicle does not use a radiator cap on the radiator but on a remote tank. It may have a different (larger) cap on it than what you are used to seeing on the radiator.
