How can you balance the dual rear wheels on a 96 f250 flatbed with 7.3 have done everything you know balanced replaced two tires and replaced brake drum that had apparently slid down the road and wor?

if you have duallies on your f250 than your issue may be the DRW adapters someone or yourself put on.if your not running hub centric DRW spacers such as made by arrowcraft, than this will cause your rim center holes to ware and the rims will hop in the back.

if this is the issue, then buy some quality arrowcraft adapters, pull them and run srw again,or swap in a truck f350 pickup rear axle, that is much wider than the f250/srw f350 axle.it's also wider than the f350 cab and chassic axle as well.the advantage of the axle swap is no adapters to fail, and you get wider brake shoes.

Where do you find the VIN on an engine?

The VIN on the dash will tell you everything you need to know. Engines dont have VIN's. They have casting numbers. Such as "Block Casting Number" or a "Head Casting Number" or a certain/specialized part number. But on old cars this maybe different and I stand corrected.

^^

This is correct, even for old cars. The block or head casting numbers will tell you the "type" of vehicle the engine was designed for but not the specific VIN is was installed in.

Some blocks have numbers for destined for "crate" which means it was not installed in a vehicle, but used as a replacement motor. For US engines, the block number will usually narrow your search down to a 5-10 year block and the type, such as truck or car. Special vehicles, like Corvettes and such, will have specific numbers (because they used aluminum and high performance parts) so the search will narrow down further.
