Assessing the need is simple. Every one needs Funeral or Final Expense Insurance. When you start adding up the cost of death it gets quite expensive, a heft bill left behind to your family if you have no insurance. Think of the cost of even a cremation. You care still looking at $2K-$3K.

A funeral is even more costly. To name a few, you have the actual funeral itself, the embalming, casket, fees and tips, hearse, limo, and more. Then there is the grave site, tombstone or headstone, perpetual care, and any other associated fees.

Lets not forget the final ride in the ambulance, and left over medical bills, probate, taxes, unpaid bills etc.

As a minimum by today's standard you should have $15,000 of final expense insurance. Leaving more money behind to your family to pay expenses is a more sensible idea so perhaps $50K or more makes sense.

No, I'm one, & at all the funerals I've been at the deceased are fully clothed. Actually, I've never even heard of this.

It might be added that in Engand and perhaps in other parts of the UK it is not permitted to bury a totally unclothed person. There are quite ancient laws regarding this.

Obviously anything akin to Joy-Happy Christmas Carols would be out of tone. I would imagine circumstances have to be considered- back around the 9ll memorial services, the music-directors carefully avoided the traditional National Anthem- which does describe an artillery-rocket bombardment ( Rocket" red Glare- the Bombs bursting in Air!) as a little too close to home ( they used America the Beautiful instead) there are all kinds of rules, and exceptions to them, as with, paradoxically, Wedding music where secular songs are often allowed ( but certainly not anything like Runaround Sue or ( You cheated, You Lied, you said that loved me!)

The insurance funds and estate assets should cover the funeral expenses. You need to contact attorney who is probating the will to insure you are reimbursed for your expenses. You can make a claim against the estate just as long as you have all receipts to make it legal! * It would appear that the deceased's estate has already been probated or assets and property that were distributed were those that were exempt from probate procedure, either via a Will or probate succession laws. If that is the case, the only option for recovering monies spent for funeral and other costs would be for the injured party to bring suit against those adult family members who would have been involved. If the estate has not been closed by probate procedure it may be possible to make a claim, the deciding factor is the time that has expired between the filing of the estate and the filing of the claim of money owed. Be advised, the law does not require surviving children or family members to pay funeral expenses. The executor of the estate should have been responsible for the matter unless another family member volunteered to take the responsibility. It is an arbitrary choice, and if an agreement was not made with other individuals to share the expenses, then the plaintiff in a suit is not likely to prevail.

In my experience as a funeral officiant, I have found that most funerals are done Mon-Fri. I have only done weekend services for memorial services where there is no body present.

The funerals CAN be done on a Saturday, if the funeral home is in agreement, but most are done during the week.

Funerals are held any day of the week. Funerals used to be held for up to two weeks. By the 1970s, a funeral averaged 4 days. Now, 2 days is more common, but the family can request anything from no viewing (zero days) to 4 days for viewing and a service. Many families choose no viewing and a graveside service so the funeral is over within a few hours.
