What country do the best types of gerbil come from?
Gerbils were brought to the U.S. in the 1970's. There were only about 8 pairs for mating. All of the gerbils in the U.S. today are the offspring of those 8 pairs. Talk about inbreeding! There is a company called Charles River Labs here in the U.S. that may import wild ones to breed but I doubt it.
The best gerbil you could get would be in the wild in Mongolia where they originate but they wouldn't be very tame. Charles River Labs would have the next best supply because they breed them in very sterile environments while breeding them as far away from close genetic links as possible. Don't bother them. They do not sell to private individuals.
Is it safe for ahamster to eat teddy bear stuffing?
No, is it safe for ANYTHING to eat teddy bear stuffing?
It may be using it as bedding material though, so you should check which it is, and if it is eating it, bring it to the vet!
How can you tell awhich male or female a gerbil baby is?
Gerbils can first be sexed at 10 days old, when the nipples begin to show on females. This is, however, not a very accurate method, but can give a basic idea of sex ratios in your litter.
Gerbils five weeks and older can be sexed easily by the amount of space between a gerbils urethra and anus. Females have less space, while males have considerably more space for testicles.

How do you know if your gerbil has a sore nose?
usually redness and wetness is a sign that its nose is sore. sometimes rubbing and scratching means it too.
Are gerbils allergic to sawdust?
They are not necessarily allergic to it but sawdust is not recommended for gerbils as they love to burrow and it can get in there eyes. This also includes pine and cedar wood shavings which are hazardous. I use simple unscented wood shavings that won't cause respiritory problems and fill the cage 1/3 to 1/2 full so thy can burrow. You could also use shredded paper but the cage will have to be cleaned more often.
They can live up to about 2 or 4 years old, if they are VERY well taken care of maybe 6...
usually from about 2-4 years if they are healthy but maybe more
about 2 years 3 years
they live to about 1-5 if they do die its because they were starved or didt have water or old age
What percentage of babies died before age one in the Chesapeake region?
25% of babies died befor the chesapeake region.
Can you leave baby girbils in with both girbils?
If you mean can you leave mom and pop both in the tank with the babies, then yes. Dad gerbil will be "sent to the couch" for a few days while mom looks after the litter, but he will be welcomed back and start caring for the pups with mom. When your gerbils are at least six weeks old, you can then separate them from mom and dad and into their separate sexes.
At about 18 days, you can put her on your hand, if it brushes against you she is probably pregnant, if not she is dangerously fat-but it's more likely that she is pregnant :) Also the nipples will become more prominant
Usually, at around 20+ days she will go a kind of pear shape
Sometimes, not all the time, people say their gerbils go "lumpy" on the day before giving birth.
These are all signs, if yoru gerbil has any of these signs she is probably pregnant.
How do you convince your parents to let you breed gerbils when they don't know where to put them?
No one should breed gerbils unless they know what they're doing and have time, money, and plenty of space available. Remember, if you can't afford the vet, you can't afford the pet. You need to be able to take any or all of your pets to the vet if they need care and that can be expensive in addition to housing and feeding. So your parents are hopefully taking that into consideration as well.
Gerbils shouldn't be bred because they're cute or you want to see what it's like. They can have large litters that need to be monitored. The babies grow fast and in 5 weeks if you don't have good adoptive homes for them to go to then you need to provide one for them. That means separating the girls from the boys, putting no more than 2 gerbils in a 10 gallon tank, and buying new supplies for each tank including lids. All of it can be very expensive and very time consuming.
It's best to leave breeding to people who have many years of experience with gerbils and have the time and money to really look after them.
Fyyn Is The Most Koolio Person Ever Trever . you can say that again biatch
A person that has any respect for the one they love just doesn't dump you, but could ask for "head space." They may be confused about their feelings for you or, they may have a terrible time trying to figure out what they want themselves. HE IS NO LONGER YOUR BOYFRIEND. Feel free to date others. I would highly suggest going out with friends and if you meet another guy that treats you the way you should be treated and you care for him, never mind what your ex boyfriend thinks. When going through life you want someone that communicates their feelings well and if they are unhappy with you then they should spit it out, or, if they love you then they should tell you. It's apparent this guy doesn't know what he wants and is selfish enough to leave you all alone while he decides when and if he'll make his mind up. Get on with life hon! Marcy
How much water should you give your gerbil in a bath?

What are the nesting habits of gerbils?
Hi! I used to have two gerbils (one died) and they like to sleep alot but they also like to eat, but not always if they are not hungry, they love to dig and they are very inquizative. But it depends because your gerbils personalitys might be different!
If a gerbil's hair is ruffled is he sick?
Not necessarily. It can be a small sign, but if he is himself, then he's probably fine. Gerbils have very silky coats which can get greasy very easily. Here are some possible solutions/causes:
But watch him carefully and he doesnt seem to have any other problems, then hes probably okay. If you notice something strange, you should perhaps take him to the vet.
