No! Anything with sugar will make a gerbil ill! Instead of sugar their favorite treat is a sunflower seed.
Can pregnant gerbils eat locusts or is it dangerous for them whilst being pregnant?
Don't eat the locusts that's when the rapture is here and it god will also take your first born gerbils.
Not officially but do check it visually to see if it is fresh. Fruit/seed mixes should smell sweet. If a large quantity of food is purchased (commercial hamster block or other), take a little out that you will use in a few weeks and put the rest in the refrigerator to maintain freshness.
Also, try not to overfeed your hamster so that it eats what you provide it within 1-2 days. 4 blocks a day is sufficient plus an occasional treat.
How can you tell if your Oscar is sick?
If he is more slugish than normal and not eating any thing also check to see if he has any outer symptoms of other dieseases
How do you bond with your gerbils?
you should every day if possible play with your gerbils. You also should give them treats out of your hand, pick them up, talk to them in a soft, calming voice, be gentle, dont drop, squezze, or hurt them. Something fun to do with your gerbils is take safe items around the house and make an agilty course. In this course would be tunnels, jumps, ladders, and maybe even a slide. I do this alot with my gerbils and they love it. Hope this helps.
P.S. I really think you should try the aglity course.
Do gerbils eyes fall out when you tip them upside down?
No. A gerbil's eyes are anchored in place by the same kind of muscles we have.
yes gerbils are considered a rodent to some.
Yes. Gerbils are rodents.
Your gerbil has has a spot of hair missing on his back is it bad?
Gerbil hair loss may be caused by many reasons. The gerbil's cage mate could be fighting him for dominance, and could've bitten there; you may have to watch them. Mites can cause hair loss, and that needs to be checked out immediately. Or the gerbil is simply bored and is over-grooming. Throw in an extra toy or something new!
Is there such thing as a lilac gerbil?
Yes there is.
A lilac gerbil is a VERY rare species of gerbil, you will only get one once in a lifetime. They are a sort of grey colour, though if you look closely, it is LILAC but very light.
How much are 10 to 30 gallon tanks?
It depends on where you get them, I have baught them for between $5 and $40
Hamsters would probably love to eat strawberries, but it is bad for them because there is too much sugar in it.
they might like each other!! It's part of how they communicate. Gerbils thump their legs when they are feeling threatened, scared, annoyed or being territorial. They also do it to warn other gerbils of food, predators or to tell them to go away. I have also find that they do it when excited because when I bring apple of toilet roll (their favourite things) they thump their legs out of excitement. Basically it is to show any extreme emotions they may be feeling to each other and you.
Can I teach an old gerbil not to bite?
Biting is the only way a gerbil has to communicate with you that it doesn't like something. So to try and force them to stop isn't natural. Plenty of handling early on in life with gerbils from a responsible independent (not a pet store) breeder, will not result in a gerbil that bites hard or often.
