What does a airbag do in a car?

The airbag is there for protection and life safety. Although, children today see airbags as standard equipment most of us grew up with only seat belts for protection. And come to think of it most of us did not where our seat belts until it became a law in most states. Today, the SRS system or supplemental restraint system works together with the seat belts to reduce injuries you might otherwise sustain in a car accident.

What is the whining noise in the back of 1999 Chev Suburban 1500 fuel pump or is it worth checking the relays?

The relays have nothing to do with the whining noise, they just complete the circuit and make things work. The whining noise is the fuel pump and that is a common problem with Chevy That noise will not hurt anything, but I would change the fuel filter and that may quite the pump a little. A stoped up fuel filter will burn a fuel pump up.

When I turn on my wipers you can hear the motor running but wipers don't move how can I fix this problem on my 94 Chevy pick up?

First thing to do-- check if the wiper is attached to the motor at all. My Suburban loosened both bolts and thus, no connection means no movement. The bolt is found by lifting the hood and checking the bottom of the arm. If there is no nut (my problem- luckily the bolt was in the engine, visible) or a loose nut, (find) tighten it and see if that works.

What is the starter bolt size for an 1986 suburban 6.2L diesel?

I just changed the solenoid on my 88 GMC 6.2l Diesel. I think the bolts holding the starter in were 17mm. I know the bolts holding the wires on were 8mm. I didn't have anything metric on hand. To remove the wires you'll either need a closed end wrench or a deep socket.

Why does your 6.2L diesel start then die?

Fuel starvation, replace diesel filters first, then check lift pump for proper operation and fuel pressure.

Also check for leaks in the fuel lines, and return lines...common problems on diesel engines.

How do you replace the thermostat located on a 1994 GMC Suburban?

If it's the same as my 93' then you just un-bolt the temp. houseing on your motor (in front of your air cleaner), be careful of the wire attached, when I did mine the temp. wire end broke, not a major thing but is a pain with not much wire to work with. Pull the old therm. out (keep in mind of the way it was in there for reference), put a rag in the hole to keep junk out. Scrape off old gasket or seal. Clean and replace gasket and use a little sealant to secure it. Put therm. back in but make sure it's the correct position and direction as the old one. Bolt back on, your done. Make sure to top off the fluid in needed.

How do you clear out the check engine light on a 1997 GMC 1500 Suburban?

First repair the problem that caused the light to come on, otherwise it will just come back on. You can try disconnecting the battery for 15 minutes and it may or may not reset the light. If this does not reset the light, you will need to access an OBD2 scan tool to be able to reset it.
