The silverback gorilla, which is simply a mature male of the species (whichever one that is), is not extinct. But it is endangered, and seriously, because of habitat destruction, hunting/poaching by humans, and disease (which, oddly, is usually the Ebola virus, which infects and kills apes). Think of the silverback gorilla as a "senior citizen" among a given gorilla family, and you've got it.

Dian Fossey not only saved the mountain gorillas from extinction but she created a sign of intellectual developement and love that no one possibly could havve done. She is not onlya smart, kind person but she is a legend.

The most closely related extant animals to humans are chimpanzees and bonobos. These are equally closely related to us, as they share a common ancestor together more recently (~1 million years ago) than they share a common ancestor with humans (~6-7 million years ago).

1 - Bushmeat ... poachers can sell the meat and make more than the average income in the region.

2 - Trophies ... some local markets actually sell hands, skulls, etc. as trophies to tourists.

3 - Private Zoos ... in order to capture a baby, the males and females in the local group are poached to separate the infant.

All of which are DISGUSTING.

Well this will sound crazy but it is us humans. We can have the longest hair in the animal kingdom. I believe the longest is 18 ft 5.54 inches. I believe the second longest hair in the animal kingdom would probably be a horse. There tail can be very long.
