Unlike other rodents like mice, rats and hamsters, guinea pigs don't need a treadmill. They are not active enough.

Not if it has lead in it! But if it can't get out and you fix it up and put bedding and a couple toys and maybe a guinea pig house in it then yea, why not.

My G.P. eats about one cup of G.P. food a day and enjoys fruit and veggies every day.

I also put Him in an outdoor pen were He can eat grass all day long, and put Him on a screened in porch at night.

No. In a pinch, say it's midnight & you can't get to a store & the pigs have absolutely no food to eat, fine. But not as their main food - it's not the right nutritional needs for them.

yes it can, before you run out of the chinchilla food make sure you put a little of food in the chinchilla's bowl and mix it in with the little of the chinchilla food and that's it then you can feed it the food

That's hard to say. I've had many hamsters, and currently have 3 pet guinea pigs. So here are the Pros and Cons of each: Pros of guinea pigs include: Larger animals, so you can hold them easier and interact a little better; they communicate much more than most hamsters; they have more distinct personalities; guinea pigs can't climb, so while you still need a top for the cage, you don't have to worry about them climbing out as much; a lot of guinea pigs just 'sleep' at different times of the day- they are not nocturnal; SOME guinea pigs can go longer when being held and not go to the bathroom on you; when guinea pigs trust you enough to lick you, you feel really happy and content; guinea pigs will lie down on you and stretch out if they feel comfortable enough. Pros of hamsters include: They do not poop as much, or have as big poops as guinea pigs; they pee less when they do pee; they don't make such a big mess in their cage; you don't have to have as big a cage as guinea pigs and you don't need to clean it as often; you don't have to feed them as much; some say hamsters may be cuter; hamsters might look cuter while they are sleeping because they can achieve different positions, making it cuter to watch them sleep. Cons of guinea pigs include: Harder to clean the cages; you have to clean the cages more often; you have to feed them more; if you hold them for too long they WILL poop on you; some may pee on you when held for too long; they REQUIRE vitamin C supplements EVERY day; they MUST have their fingernails clipped every so often; they might need to have their teeth trimmed- which would be best to take the pig to the vet; it would be best to wash the guinea pig every month or every other month; they smell more than hamsters. Cons of hamsters include: Not as easy to hold them as guinea pigs; they are very active and run around a lot, making them hard for small children to hold; hamsters may bite people (guinea pigs will too- but not very often, if you treat them right); hamsters are known to try to climb to the top of the cage, push the top off and escape (mine have- almost all 8 of them); if the hamsters do escape, and run under say the refrigerator, it would be extremely difficult to retrieve them; hamsters are prone to tumors from running against the sides of their treadmill (guinea pigs are not - it would be AWFUL to give them exercise wheels and balls- they can severely hurt their backs and feet). I've had guinea pigs before and there is a few reasons they squeak. a mother constantly squeaks when you get one of her babies and she knows you have it or she can't find it. also, if they don't wana be with you... they normally have reasons. either they're not used to you or they need to go bathroom and don't wana do it on you. also, if they are REALLY used to you, they'll squeak at the sound of plastic because that's what they hear when they're about to be fed vegetables or stuff like that and they want you to give them some. a guinea pig, especially a baby will squeak if you hold them because they're trying to get away and feel scared.

My dog "Bobby doodle Albert Arthur" a Cavooodle died at the age of 4 and many of other friends dogs all have Cavoodles had the same problem. Cavoodles and poodle's are the worst combination and they can live up to 3 and 1/2 years WARNING this is a true story in love of " Bobby doodle Albert Athur" best wishes in heaven. Whatever you do, don't do anything mean to make it whistle.

What I find is that my piggies whistle when they are ready to eat and hear a food bag. Guinea pigs aren't THAT smart but they're smart enough to recognize the sound of the refrigerator opening or a food bag. So, if you feed them at a similar time, they'll learn the sound and whistle.

Then, you can just crumple a bag and you can hear them whistle. But give them a treat if you do this or they will not do it for long!

yes they do but not very long they eat lots of the time if they have 24/7 food like mine do :D

yes, they do sleep most of the time at night. they usually take little naps all through the day and night, but they sleep most of the night and their awake most of the time during the day. thats what mine do. hope this helps.

The above foods are fine for treats and snacks but I think the best way to feed your guinea pig is buy a commercial rodent food that supplies essential vitamins and minerals. But I'm sure your guinea pig would love to have snacks so he doesn't get bored with his pellets.

if your guinea pig is new to your family, then maybe she is just a little bit wary of you. You need to give your piggie time to settle in. If your guinea pig has been with you for a while, and doesnt normally mind being scratched anywhere else, then there are two posibilities:

1. that just might be a place she doesnt like being scartched

or

2.she/he may feel uncomfertable with you scratching her there. Check to see if your piggie looks like she is in pain, if so, get her checked out by a vet.

its fine if ur guinea pig has 6 babies.my guinea pig had 2 babies but if u have 6 its more cage cleaning and make sure u separate them. plz don't send them to a shelter. they could kill the guinea pigs.plz don't.
