If you are extremely worried, I'd advise taking him to the vet to hear more details. However, if your hamster has sprained a leg, there is not much the vet can do. A cast can't be put around your hamster's leg as your hamster will just bite it off. The most advisable thing (this is what I did when my poor hamster sprained her ankle) is to take out any exercising equipment. Let your hamster rest his/her leg as long as possible, and maybe even spoil your hamster a bit by giving him/her extra treats to make up for stress that may develop as a result of he/she being unable to exercise and run around. The key is to wait it out, and give your hamster plenty of rest. Your hamster will recover in no time. ;)

i think they might be very sick depending if it dies because it is sick or because it is too old. but keep track of how old your pet is. and monitor your pet if it is quite old

The hamster does not really have any certain "germs". They do have germs, and some animals have the Zoonotic Disease, which is a disease passed from animals to humans. But it's rare. If you always wash your hands before and after handling your pet hamster, it wont harm you or get you sick.

You cannot put guinea pigs in tanks because they feel trapped being surrounded by glass and also there is no where to strap on water bottles and needed equipment onto the walls of the tank. They will also become blind if you put them in an aquarium and there is little air circulation.

You need to be more specific with your question. Are you asking how long you can leave your hamster while you go away for a few days? Or, are you asking how long can a hamster live alone as the only hamster? I also will sometimes put my hamster in a harness leash and let it walk around outside. You can teach a hamster to walk on its hind legs by holding a piece of food in the air and having them follow it. Most hammies will do almost anything for food. Try searching different tricks to teach your hamster.

OK , this is not normal. Put your thumb and index finger on the lump.If it moves freely and does not seem attached to a muscle, it's probably an incapsulated cyst, just keep an eye on it. If it's gowing , you may want the Vet to take it off. If pus or liqid comes out, it may be a sore. Kind of yellowy stuf is serous drainage .Sniff you fingers , but don't touch your nose. If it smells like a stinky old sweat sock, it's a cebaceous cyst , an impacted fatty sweat gland. These , too, are benign if not growing any more. A solid lump that seems stuck to the muscle and has no odor, and may be something serious.Vets cost a lot of money, so be realistic if it's something serious.I love all my little furry friends, but sometimes we have to make hard choices. If the hamster is really sick, don't let it suffer .

No, hamsters and rats are different species so can't reproduce. I would have thought rats and hamsters would probably fight, as Syrian hamsters are extremely territorial and rats are so much larger than hamsters anyway.

Hamsters squeak as a sign of distress or a cry for help, if your hamster does squeak go to it immediately and see if anything is wrong, if you can see no injuries obviously, but it still squeaks when you pick him/her up again consult a vet to have an x-ray done or something. If nothing is wrong he/she was probably scared from something check it's cage for spiders or other small/large insects. If it doesn't squeak again your hamster was probably communicating with another hamster if you have one, or saying something even to you.
