Most Japanese things are cute. Japan seems to be the master of cute things. Sanrio and San-x come from Japan with cute characters like Hello Kitty and Keropi. In the US the things we deem as cute are a far cry from the sheer cuteness of the Japanese things. We have things like tweety bird and Eeyor...Neither of which can combat with Pochama or Pikachu.
