What can you do besides taking a tablet if you have a headache?

Please consult your doctor if you have started having frequent headaches, if you cannot relieve the headache, or if pain persists despite using common headache medications. Go to an E.R. if you have "the worst headache you've ever had" (extremely severe), or if you have nausea, vomiting, or other symptoms along with the severe headache.

This Community provides suggestions on how to get rid of a headache. However, what works for one person may not work for another person.

  1. You may have gotten the headache from not drinking enough water. Even slight dehydration can cause a headache, with or without stomach pain. One quick help for any dehydration is canned chicken soup; the sodium and other electrolytes will help. Drink some Gatorade or Pedialyte for quick electrolyte replacement.
  2. Eat something--a lot of times low blood sugar contributes to headaches. Try a peanut butter sandwich which will help steady the blood sugar over several hours and drink a mildly sugared drink--but limit caffeine! Jello can give some sugar and electrolytes. IF no other options, eat 1 candy bar to immediately push up your blood glucose. IF diabetic, make sure you check your BS level.
  3. Rest in a dark, quiet room and try to relax or sleep.
  4. Rest in a dark quiet room with a fan blowing.
  5. Limit and try to stay away from noise.
  6. Practice relaxed deep breathing.
  7. Rub your temples with mild pressure. It shouldn't be uncomfortable to do so. If it is, put less pressure or stop rubbing.
  8. Wet a wash cloth or rag in TEPID WARM water and place it at the back of the neck. This can help relieve muscle spasms that can cause headaches.
  9. Wet a wash cloth or rag in TEPID WARM water and place it across your forehead and eyes. NOTE: Very hot water brings blood flow to an area---which can increase a headache. Cold water can also increase the pain.
  10. SOME people find an ice pack helps.
  11. You can try cutting a lime in half and rubbing it on your forehead.
  12. Go to the drug store and buy "Pain Be Gone" and if you don't see the one for headaches ask your pharmacist.
  13. Try your best to get as much stress out of your life as possible as this can cause headaches or migraines.
  14. Take up Yoga as it relaxes you and take time out for yourself at least one hour each day or more if you can.
  15. Chiropractic doctors can help if the headache originates from structural problems.
  16. I've found that walking generally helps. The only issue I have with this solution is that if temperatures outside are too high, it can worsen the matter, and simply getting up and moving is difficult.

Why whenever you eat ice cream too quickly do you get a slight headache?

When eating ice cream you might get a slight headache because the extreme coldness causes the temperature on the roof of your mouth to drop. Because this is so close to the brain, which the body attempts to protect at all costs, it attempts to correct this drop in temperature by dramatically increasing blood flow to the brain, and thus heat from the core. This extra blood pressure causes a slight headache. To make this go away put your hand to your mouth and breathe rather quickly through your mouth. Another way is to place your thumb on the roof of your mouth for about 15-30 seconds, or to press your tongue against the roof of your mouth. These methods bring heat to the roof of the mouth, bringing it back to normal body temperature, which in turn lowers the blood pressure in the brain back to normal levels.

What is wrong if you have a lump in your right breast and could it have been caused by your husband's harsh bite?

It is possible that the lump is caused from the trauma from the bite. It is kind of like a bruise but the blood pools into one place. If it is a bruise, the lump would be tender and should disappear in a couple of days if you massage and rotate it (this will disperse the pooled blood). Unfortunately there are many other things this lump could be - from swollen lymph nodes to a small benign growth to breast cancer. Please go and see a doctor about it if it is still there in a week. oh!my god!

What does it mean when your wife grumbles and complains about you all the time?

Men have a tendency to think that their wife is complaining all the time, when actually they may just be making a statement. I know my husband says I do this all the time, but I don't. I think it depends on the specific situation. Some men are just more sensative than others. I think that if this is happening and the husband is concerned, he should just ask his wife if she loves him. He should also ask her if she is happy. Complaining is sometimes just a personality trait and may have nothing at all to do with how much a person loves her husband.
