Why would cardiac tamponade effect the right side of the heart before the left?

My guess is that because the heart tilts on an axis. Gravity would make the blood flow towards the feet in the pericardial sac, which makes up most of the right side of the heart. Depending on how fast the bleed is you wouldn't notice and effects from it; besides the drop in blood pressure. This is my guess. I don't know the text book answer.

Here's a photo that shows the heart on its axis. bem.fi/book/19/fi/1901.gif

2) the pulmonary valve is heard at the 2nd intercostal space at the left sternal margin.

3) the mitral valve is heard over the heart apex which is in the 5th intercostal space in line with the middle of the clavicle.

How many actual pumps does the heart contain?

The human heart is comprised of four chambers, of which two -- the left ventricle and the right ventricle -- intake low pressure blood and outflow high pressure blood. The process of taking in a low pressure fluid at a given volume, and then sending out the same volume at a higher pressure, is "pumping". According to this logic, the heart contains *two* ventricular pumps, which use muscular contraction to raise the pressure of the blood.

At a little more detail, the left ventricle pump sends high(er) pressure, oxygenated blood throughout the body -- brain, digestive system, limbs, etc. -- through the arterial circulation (arteries). The right ventricle pumps blood which has returned to the heart through the venous system (veins), which is depleted of oxygen, out to the lungs through the pulmonary circulation (this circulation is distinct from the body circulation in that the artery carries low-oxygen blood and the vein carries high oxygen blood). After oxygenation, the blood is returned to the heart through the pulmonary vein, making its way to the left ventricle and the arterial circulation to repeat the cycle.

blah blah blah.... the left and right ventricles are the pumps so the answer is two

What does a heart artery look like?

Like a little tree branch on the outside of the heart. It's just a small artery that leaves the heart from the inside and goes to the outside so it can distribute fresh blood to the heart muscle itself.

The heart muscle is very busy with all the pumping it does constantly and needs this supply of blood. If blood supply is interrupted for even a very short time, the consequences are grave.

Why is oxygen poor blood pumped to the lungs?

The lungs take in oxygen, this oxygen travels down to the alveoli (thin, permeable sacs), which are covered in blood vessels, and the oxygen travels into the blood due to a pressure difference and CO2 goes from the blood to the lungs to be exhaled. The body needs that oxygen for almost every system in the body.

What does LDL have to do with heart attacks?

The most important one are Low Density Protestations (LDL) and High Density Protestations (HDL). The LDL carries most of the cholesterol in the blood and this LDL cholesterolis commonly referred to as "bad cholesterol". When the level is too high in the blood, the excess is deposited on the wall of the arteries. This can contribute to the narrowing on blockage of the coronary arteries, leading to the development of heart disease.
