Hitler learned about Jews when he lived in Vienna in his early years and he became anti-Semitic as a result of peculiar personal bad experiences. This antisemitism became an obsession for him. He mentioned the misery, caused by Jews in Europe in his book "Mein Kampf". However, he was in his early days of his political career supported by wealthy Jews, who tried to benefit from his ideas. What irony!

Later when he had the political power, he wanted to move Jews out of Germany, Austria and then the occupied Europe. Early plans were to resettle Jews in Madagascar. So there was not an early plan to kill them systematically. Many wealthy Jews and intellectuals from Germany understood the prospective threat against their religion and liberties and emigrated to other countries. The forced concentration of Jews, from all over Europe, was, however, an opportunity for many more anti-Semites (and there were plenty: For instance 80 % of the Polish population was absolutely anti-Semitic) to ethnically "cleanse" European countries from Jews for good. Many were put in camps, many were killed and many died from deceases like typhus and extreme malnutrition, especially at the end of the war, when concentration camps did not get the necessary supplies and were evacuated geographically from one location to others, which were not exposed to immediate war activities. Many of the inmates were used and abused as laborer for the production of essential goods, weapon systems and war materiel. So, it would have been actually rather counterproductive for the German regime, to assume that they had the sole plan of killing all the concentration camp inmates.
