How old were Auschwitz prisoners?
Most prisoners were in their prime, between 18 and 50. But some outside of these ages pretended to be within these ages in order to survive.
There were also the family (gypsy) camps, where children and the elderly lived, but the numbers of people in these camps was proportionately very small.

The Nazis identified two types of camps:
Second answer with additional information. These camps were called "Concentration Camps". The term had first been used to explain what the Spanish did in Cuba in the late 1890's. In Cuba, these were not death or slave labor camps; therefore the name at the time in Germany did not necessarily arouse suspicions that the Nazi's had in fact created camps to carry-out mass genocide. Often these major camps had sub-camps built nearby to assist with the various tasks assigned to the camps. For example a major death camp could have several sub-camps established to specialize in slave labor, located near the location of the work being one. For example: The famous Auschwitz/Birkenau Extermination Camp at Oswiecim-Brzezinka had 51 sub-camps.
How many women and children died in concentration camps?
The answer is essentailly unknown. However, because most women and children were chosen for the gas chambers during selection, the number is estimated to be very high. Do remember that the holocaust extends beyond the concentrion camps. People were also shot dead in massive pits by special killing units, known as the Einsatzgruppen. The killings mainly took place during the Nazi invasions of Eastern Europe, where most Jews and other "inferior" races lived at the time. Though at first the victims were men, the murders soon increased in brutality to women and children. It is estimated that 1.5 million people in all were killed through the Einsatzgruppen.

How did Jewish kids feel when Hitler put them in those houses to die?
How would you feel, I bet they would feel the same way.
However, human nature is such that "hope" and belief that nobody would/could do that to another person probably meant that the realization of what was happening did not hit home until the gas stated to come in and people started to scream.
