There is no ground for any of the speakers in a car. You will find to wires that go to the speaker but NEVER have the speaker wires touch any body metal. If you tie any of the speaker wires to ground you will short out the amplifier in the radio. On Ford vehicles the radio outputs are what they call Bridged Tied Loads. The speaker wires are not referenced to ground or battery. If you wish to find out the phasing of the speaker just put a 9 volt battery across the speaker wires and the speaker cone will either advance or retrack. Do this to all the speakers and note what color wir was on the 9 volt battery terminal

In a set of cables with red, black (or white) and yellow cables, the yellow cable is a composite video cable.

Surge Protection Devices are designed to sacrifice themselves in the event of a major transient event in order to prevent damage to the equipment that they were installed to protect. If a Surge Protection Device is subjected to a severe enough transient (surge) within minutes of its installation this may very well be the devices life expectancy. Quality Surge Protection Devices are designed to withstand a certain level of surge activity and still remain within the manufacturers original specifications. Most Surge Protection Devices have a LED Status Indication light that lets the consumer know whether or not the device is operational.

You have to access the gauges by removing the cover. Unless you know what you are doing, you can mess up a lot of things working on the dash.

There is at least 1 commercially branded backlapping kit on the market for sharpening the mowers. It is not intuitive and internet-posted assistance on the subject is pretty limited.

Backlapping paste is like liquid sandpaper, the grit is suspended in a sticky non toxic substance. I think the commercial kit is 80 grit. The kit comes with enough paste to do 1 or 2 sharpenings.

You can also check with a hardware store that has been around for awhile, to ask if they know someone locally who does it. I sharpen them in NW Ohio. I use a range of grits down to 220 grit.

Video is picture and audio is the sound. Home theater receivers have RCA composite or component, S-Video or HDMI for the video input, and RCA analog, Toslink (optical) or coaxial inputs for digital audio.

HDMI is the only digital input in the group you specified. VGA carries RGB signals along with synchronization information, so VGA is really RGB. RGB is analog.

HDMI sends video information encoded in data frames. That is -- it is sent in numbers.

VGA/RGB sends the same information using careful timing and voltage levels, so it's very much more like analog sound than anything else.

With the recent (12-03-09) issues about the firmware update rendering WDTV live useless (permanently or temporarily, I do not know), I wanted to find out how to disable the "found new Firmware" notification when turning on the device.

I found somewhat of a solution although it will not hide the notification, it will prevent WDTV Live from accessing the internet. If you log in to your router (e.g. 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1, etc) there you will find the IP of the WDTV and you should be able to block all outgoing traffic from WDTV live to the internet. Note that this should not disable WDTV's connection to your NAS if you are using one.

I was able to block mine from downloading the firmware from the 'net - you can still update firmware via USB stick. I also lost connection to youtube but that's a small price to pay for not bricking my 1 week old WDTV Live.
