Can a clogged kitchen sink cause problems for the bathroom on the same line?

It can if the plugged part is actually down the pipe from both, not actually under the sink. It sounds as if the main line connecting both is plugged. See if you can find a 'cleanout' on the main pipe and 'snake' it.

Water not flusing from toilet tank?

The fill valve is not opening. If the valve is a post in the corner of the tank and the float slides up and down on it, there is a washer in the top of it that becomes stiff or plugged and does not let water in.

How much water does a kitchen sink use a minute?

The easiest way would be to capture the sink water at full flow and fill a 5gallon bucket while timing yourself. When the buckets full then divide the time it took by 5 and you have your GPM.

What is a 'Half Flush' toilet?

In an effort to save water, a half flush toilet uses only half as much. They generally have a button of some sort that allows you to choose a full flush (for heavy duty loads) or a half flush (for lighter loads.) I have also seen this referred to as "the number one button" (half flush) and "the number two button" (full flush.)

Will apple cider vinegar clean a copper penny better than white vinegar?

Either one will damage the surface and reduce its collector value to zero. If you must clean a coin that has any numismatic value, soak it in distilled water and soap (not detergent), then use a soft artist's brush to whisk away the dirt and let it air dry. Any more aggressive cleaning should be left to a professional conservator.

Can you use lye to clear clogged pipes?

Yes, Drain-o's main ingredient is lye. Pour a cup in the drain, wait 5 minutes, flush with hot water.

How do you turn off the water to remove a bathroom suite?

How do you clean the inside of a plastic straw?

cotton swab!

Different types of plastics can withstand more heat and scrubbing than others. Some heavy plastic straws clean well in the dishwasher. Others can be cleaned with hot soapy water and a long pipe cleaner, now sometimes called chenille craft wire.

When taking shower and someone flushes toilet at same time the water in shower is scalding hot?

When you take a shower, you're mixing a combination of hot and cold water to make a comfortable temperature for the shower water. A toilet draws only off the cold water system. In older or poorly designed plumbing systems, when you flush the toilet, the cold water is pulled by toilet, so the water coming through the shower is only drawing from the hot water tank.

Can copper and galvanized pipes mixed cause the hot water pressure low new water tank and still low pressure?

The question makes no sense.

what doesn't make sense ,the house has installed half of copper pipes and half galvanized the cold water is running fine but the hot water is slow and they said it might be because it has copper and galvanized piping mixed instead of all at once.

It makes no sense because you have used no punctuation beyond a single comma (where there should be a question mark). Even with punctuation added, the grammar would not great.

As to the problem, assuming that the pipes are the correct size (bore), and none are old and full of scale, the excuse as put by you here, is nonsense. What might have been meant, is that galvanised pipe is very thick-walled compared to standard copper, so that may be the problem - the pipes are really too small. What are the dimensions of the galvanised pipe?

You are also not comparing like with like.

Cold water will almost always be at mains supply pressure, fed directly off the rising main. Hot water will be at a pressure determined by the maximum head of the system - the vertical distance between the outlet and the highest part of the hot water system (which is usually a loft tank). In a house, this usually means that a hot outlet downstairs is at around double the pressure of any hot outlet upstairs. A standard installation would give at least a 6 foot head, usually more, even in a bungalow.

Measuring the static pressure of the hot water (the pressure at the outlet, with no flow), will tell you nothing because the problem could be pressure drop when there is flow, especially if the pipe is too small.

How do you keep a toilet seat from slipping sideways?

Buying the proper size, and tightening the nut and washers.

What is the XXh brass pipe?

XXh in piping is a determination of the wall thickness of the pipe. XXh stands for double extra heavy (or double extra strong) under an old standard measuring system. It has the thickest pipe wall of any other. The actual thickness is dependent on the nominal pipe diameter. Present determination of wall thicknesses of pipes is called schedules. Schedule 10 pipe is the thinnest while schedule 160 is the thickest. Heavy pipe is slightly thicker than today's sch. 40 pipe, extra heavy slightly thicker than sch. 80 pipe, and double extra heavy is slightly thicker than today's sch. 160 pipe.

XXh pipe is no longer in use commercially and has been replaced with schedule 160 pipe, XXh Brass or Bronze pipe is forged or molded from bronze, rather than Iron or steel.

Some wall thicknesses of double extra strong pipes are:

1/2 inch nom. dia. = 0.294 inch thick

3/4 inch nom. dia. = 0.308 inch thick

1 inch nom. dia. = 0. 358 inch thick

1 1/4 inch nom. dia. = 0.382 inch thick

1 1/2 inch nom. dia. = 0.400 inch thick

2 inch nom. dia. = 0.436 inch thick

How to add sink shut off valve?

once again Google to the rescue-- GOOGLE " how to add sink shut off valve" how to videos.

This process is too in-depth for me to just sit and type here for you without knowing if you are using Copper, PVC, or Pex. plumbing. However it is a fairly simple process for the average handyman such as myself who has done it many times in the past. But for a novice I am suggesting DIY How To Videos.

For Copper pipes:

shut off the main water supply to the water-line you will be working on

turn the water faucett on in the kitchen and bathroom and leave it there until you finish working.

If you are working on the cold water line then only open the cold water from the kitchen and bathroom. This is to allow air into the pipes so that the water will drain when you cut the pipe-- water in the pipe will not allow you to solder (sweat) the pipes together-- the pipes must be clear of water to reach its proper heat range for the solder to melt and seal on copper pipes.

if the tee on your valve is 2 inches from outter edge to outter edge then you will want to cut a section of pipe of about 1. 1/4 inches long.

once the pipe is cut use emery cloth, sandpaper, or a wire brush to clean the pipe ends in and out before applying flux -- once you applied the flux-- plact the valve in place in between both pipe pieces and begin to heat testing periodically with the tip of a solder until you see the solder starting to melt.

How do you loosen a washing machine hose connection?

Spray with "liquid plumber" penetrant spray available automotive store lubricant section anywhere in US and CanTire in God's country. Leave overnight. Next day, turn off with slotted wrench - lefty, loosey. If you've done it right it will come off with minimal effort with little risk of tensional damage to plumbing joints. Make sure you use the slotted wrench on the knurled part of the connector to avoid compression on the connector. It was so easy with this great 4 buck product. Only problem was family complaining of smell of product as it did its magic. Metal parts were shiny new after removal.
