Immune System

This category is for questions about how our bodies identify and fight off disease, infection or pathogens through specialized cells, tissues and organs. The system that does this is called the immune system. It produces antibodies which recognize intruders and neutralizes potentially pathogenic organisms or substances.

What is in the immune system?

The immune system is a system that protects your body from invaders such as bacteria viruses flu and other things without this we would all of died a long time ago.

What kind of immunity do you receive from vaccines?

Innate immunity (also called nonspecific or natural immunity) refers to the inborn ability of the body to resist and is genetically transmitted from one generation to the next. This immunity offers resistance to any microorganism or foreign material encountered by the host.

It includes general mechanisms inherited as part of the innate structure and function of each vertebrate and acts as the first line of defense. Innate immunity lacks immunological memory, i.e., it occurs to the same extent each time a microorganism or foreign material is encountered.

Can plane trees be carcinogenic?

Yes, but this all depends on one critical factor. Eat some spaghetti. Chew it. Notice how it is food. Now, eat your dessert. So you see, only in some cases is it possible for plane trees to possess endogenous carcinogenic compounds.

Many, if not, most of the molecules that make up your body are proteins. Anti-bodies are actually incomplete chains of protein that link with any recognizable chain of acids that the immune system recognizes as "bad."

Is hypoglycemia real?

Yes of course it is. It is a state of low blood sugar. or low blood glucose. It occurs when blood glucose drops below normal levels. One of its other names is Insulin Shock as it is often associated with diabetics taking too much insulin or missing a meal after taking insulin. There are many other causes including other medications, medical diseases including hommroone and enzyme imbalnaces and sadly even cancer.

Hyperglycemia can occur quite quickly but fortunately in most cases it is easy to resolve with the ingestion of high glucose foods (fruit juice, candies, glucose tabs) and a complex carbohydrate (common peanut butter and crackers or cheese).

I recommend The (US) National Diabetes Information Clearinghouse of the National Institute of Health at http://diabetes.niddk.nih.gov/dm/pubs/hypoglycemia/ or The Candain Diabetes Association at http://www.diabetes.ca/Files/kwd_signs.pdf

There are also many different reasons why the immune system may not work correctly. However, the greatest single threat to the functioning of the immune system is the human immunodeficiency virus, HIV.
