How can I make a dynamic IP address into a static IP address every time I use the internet with Mozilla Firefox or IE 7?

I don't believe you can, you will need to contact your ISP.

A dynamic IP is an address that is assigned to you temporarily when you connect to the internet. For the duration of your stay it will remain the same (static) but when you disconnect and reconnect you will probably be given a different IP address. The address you had before will be given to someone else.

If you need a static IP you have to contact your ISP (Internet service provider) and ask them to asign you a static IP so you have an IP address permantly asigned to you which you can use very time you are connected.

You can not do it yourself because an IP address needs to be globally unique, you can't just pick one for yourself. It needs to be asigned to you.

For most users a static IP is undesirable. If you have a hole in your firewall and a dynamic iP then every time you disconnect and reconnect any hacker who found you on the first visit will find it much more difficult to find you again because your address will be different.

The only reason I know why you would need a static IP is if you want other users to be able to connect to your computer (ie Running a server.)

I believe you CAN DO IT , and its rather Simple use Dyndns get a Domain Name, it's all free. You can even then if you wanted to setup a Web server, but depending on who your ISP is they might block port 80 on Dynamic IP's so if your going to use Apache in the Http.conf file just change the first line that you see port 80 on, to another port such as anything above 4000 or so. Can also just setup Remote Desktop to Remote into your computer from where ever you are and access your files that way. Just make sure you use a super secure password and I mean mix it up, also if you can make it so that if you failed after 3 login's it locks the account for about 60min or so depends on what you want to set it to.

I do it this way with my web server and its works out rather nice I can run up to two Domain Names with DYNDNS and have two diff web servers running at the same time if your speed is good then it's really worth it. I know it saved me lots of times when I needed a file that was on my server at home just remote in copy to my laptop's desktop and get to work.

Peace out.

What is evp?

EVP

Electronic

Voice

Phenomena

Electronic voice phenomena (EVP) are electronically generated noises that resemble speech, but are not the result of intentional voice recordings or renderings. Common sources of EVP include static, stray radio transmissions, and background noise. Some have claimed these sounds are of paranormal origin, while there are natural explanations such as apophenia (finding significance in insignificant phenomena), auditory pareidolia (interpreting random sounds as voices in their own language), equipment artefacts, or simple hoaxes. Recordings of EVP are often created from background sound by increasing the gain (i.e. sensitivity) of the recording equipment.

Parapsychologist Konstantin Raudive, who popularized the idea, described EVP as typically brief, usually the length of a word or short phrase.

Phone calls from the dead""Phone calls from the dead" is an alleged paranormal phenomenon in which people receive telephone calls that they claim are from spirits of the deceased. People have reported receiving telephone call from deceased relatives, friends, or even from someone not directly known by the recipient in life. The communication is usually simple and brief, and is usually a one-time occurrence. Physics

Interference, for example, is seen in certain EVP recordings, especially those recorded on devices which contain RLC circuitry. These cases represent radio signals of voices or other sounds from broadcast sources. Interference from CB Radio transmissions and wireless baby monitors, or anomalies generated though cross modulation from other electronic devices, are all documented phenomena. It is even possible for circuits to resonate without any internal power source by means of radio reception.

Capture errors are anomalies created by the method used to capture audio signals, such as noise generated through the over-amplification of a signal at the point of recording.

Artifacts created during attempts to boost the clarity of an existing recording might explain some EVP. Methods include re-sampling, frequency isolation, and noise reduction or enhancement, which can cause recordings to take on qualities significantly different from those that were present in the original recording.

The very first EVP recordings may have originated from the use of tape recording equipment with poorly aligned erasure and recording heads, resulting in previous audio recordings not being completely erased. This could allow a small percentage of previous content to be superimposed or mixed into a new 'silent' recording.

Paranormal groups and ghost huntingInvestigation of EVP is the subject of hundreds of regional and national groups and Internet message boards.

Paranormal investigator John Zaffis claims, "There's been a boom in ghost hunting ever since the Internet took off." Investigators, equipped with electronic gear-like EMF meters, video cameras, and audio recorders-scour reportedly haunted venues, trying to uncover visual and audio evidence of ghosts. Many use portable recording devices in an attempt to capture EVP.

What is the difference between software determinate and software that is indeterminate?

Information determinacy refers to the predictability of the order and timing of infor- mation. An engineering analysis program accepts data that have a predefined order, executes the analysis algorithm(s) without interruption, and produces resultant data in report or graphical format. Such applications are determinate. A multiuser oper- ating system, on the other hand, accepts inputs that have varied content and arbi- trary timing, executes algorithms that can be interrupted by external conditions, and produces output that varies as a function of environment and time. Applications with these characteristics are indeterminate.
