How do you burn something on to a disc?
Burning to disk is part of the Mac OS. There are links to 'Burn Disk' in many applications and folders. For example in iTunes, there is a 'Burn Disc' button on the lower left of the main window. The easiest way would be to make a playlist of the songs you wanted to burn, select the playlist, and click 'Burn Disc.'
There are several types of discs that you can burn. CD disks can hold 1 to 20 or more songs depending on the length of each song. If you want more, and have a player that can play MP3 music, you first convert your music into mp3 in iTunes (Advanced=>Create MP3 Version). Then put the mp3s you want to burn into a playlist and select the playlist and click 'Burn Disc.' an mp3 disk can hold hundreds of songs, depending on the file size of each song.
A "Burn Folder" can be burned to disk as well. Open a folder with stuff you want to put on the disk. In the menu at the top of the folder window is 'Actions' which has 'New Burn Folder.'
Make a new Burn Folder and drag the things you want on the disk into the burn folder. Open the burn folder (After you have put what you want into it) and click 'BURN' which is in the upper right corner. NOTE: The burn folder is a data base, so you can throw it away when you are done and the stuff in it will NOT be thrown away.
Different disks have different sizes. A CD will hold up to 700 Megabytes. DVD can hold several amounts depending on the number of sides and how many layers on each side: 4.7 GB (single-sided, single-layer) 8.5 GB (single-sided, double-layer) and 9.4 GB (double-sided, single-layer) So, a CD can hold 700,000,000 bytes (700 MB), and a DVD can hold 9,400,000,000 bytes! (9,400 MB). 13 CD disks will fit on the large DVD.
