How do you put code in jaguar xj8 radio?
To enter the code for a Jaguar XJ8 radio, first, turn on the ignition without starting the engine. Next, switch on the radio; it should display "CODE" or "ENTER CODE." Use the preset buttons (typically numbered 1-6) to input your code. After entering the correct code, press the "OK" or "Enter" button to unlock the radio. If you input the wrong code multiple times, you may need to wait before attempting again or consult your owner's manual for further instructions.
How do you remove the rear view mirror from the windshield on a 2001 Jaguar XJ8?
Be extraordinarily careful the windshield can crack very easily. I did it (see below) but would recommend taking it to a windshield installer and have the old mirror removed and new one installed. The procedure is gut wrenching and nerve racking. Here goes:
1. Remove the upper and lower wire housing covers from the mirror. Caution: The upper cover has 2 very small plastic "pins" that break very easily.
2. Remove the lower rain wiper sensor cable (if equiped). Use caution - delicate wires.
3. Remove the interior head console. Open the sunglass visor, remove the plastic screw and the unit will come down. CAUTION: Do not pull until you have removed the console wiring harness from its plug.
4. Unplug the large yellow connector for the mirror harness assembly.
5. IMPORTANT: While the mirror is still in place, lubricate however you can (spray oil) the area where the mirror slides onto the metal nut that is affixed to the windshield. Do not worry about getting oil on the glass = it's better than having the winshield crack.
6. CAREFULLY with even pressure and VERY LIGHT torque, "jiggle" the mirror to just slightly loosten it. ADD more oil. I'd call it even a "wiggle in place". Work the lubricant in/around before trying to "slide" the mirror down.
7. When you are satisfied (DO NOT jip yourself on time here guys and gals) that the windshield mounting nut is lubricated and the mirror mounting snap clip is lubed, GENTLY slide the mirror downward. Let the lube sit in place for a while. You may need to wiggle it a little through the motion.
8. To reinstall, LUBE the metal windshield nut and mirror snap ring with WHITE LITHIUM GREASE.
9. GENTLY slide the mirror "upwards" using a very slight "wiggle" to get the snap ring to lock around the metal nut.
10. Reinstall the auto-wiper sensor harness, then plug in the mirror wire harness into the console area and reassemble the console.
11. Reinstall the plastic guards.
I've read about this proceedure online. One report indicated that professional techs break about 1 in 50 windshields doing this procedure. If you have good glass coverage with your insurance, go for it. If you don't, THINK TWICE about doing this even if your consider yourself an average to average plus mechanic. Glass has zero give.
If you need a new electochromatic mirror a good source is Jagbits - 888-524-2487. DO NOT buy a "used" mirror - Jag updated the faulty design in 2003 and the new mirrors are not supposed to fail.

It means that there is NO Phone. Phone being short for Telephone. So if you push the button to make a call the car is telling you that you do not have a telephone hooked up. If you look at the buttons on your radio you will see that they look just like a phone. your car originally came with a phone but it's outdated and not worth trying to get connected anymore.

How do you replace the serpentine belt on a 1998 Jaguar XJ-8?
This is actually a fairly straight-forward and easy job. I completed it in my garage in about 15 minutes.
0. Make sure engine is COOL. otherwise, you WILL burn yourself.
1. Take a picture or diagram the path of your existing serpentine belt. This is critical to getting the new belt on. While it will only "fit" 1 way, it is much easier knowing how to "snake" the belt around, in-between and under the water pump, alternator, a/c compressor, tensioner, etc...
2. the tensioner is the key. you will need the biggest ratchet (3/4") that you have and it is even easier with a "breaker" bar (long bar that increases your torque, with socket head on end).
3. The belt tensioner is (using a clock face) about 2:00 - 3:00 oclock from the main crankshaft pully (if you were standing in front of the car, looking through the radiator, at the front of the engine). It has a 15mm or 17mm nut on it's center. If you put a socket to it, the tensioner will move by applying pressure in the counter-clockwise direction. This is compress the spring insid the tensioner, it will move in and provide slack for the belt.
4. SO, snake the new belt into position except for going around the tensioner.
5. (This is a little tricky) With the belt "almost" in place, place the socket inside the belt and onto the tensioner nut/bolt, so that when you compress the tensioner, the belt will be able to slip onto the tensioner pully. Apply the counter-clockwise pressure to the tensioner, creating enough roon to slip the belt into place and in the correct grooves. Release the tensioner and you are done!
I was able to replace my belt without removing ANYTHING from the front of the engine. If you must have the room you can remove the electric fan shroud by unbolting the two top bolts behind the radiator and disconnecting the two electrical feeds (on to each fan motor). The shrould will pivot back and lift out. It is easy, but not necessary to remove this item.
Good luck!
How do you remove the back speaker covers in a 95 Toyota Camry?
I would start by crawling in the trunk and looking straight back up at the speakers. There are some screws there that might hold the speaker in place and you should be able to see how the cover is installed.
What is boot open on jaguar xj8?
Many cars have a switch connected to the boot lock to alert the driver if the boot (= "Trunk", to our American friends :) ) isn't closed properly. Chances are, esp with an older car that you have either a) a faulty switch, or b) another fault somewhere else in the electrical connection If you like me have a 1997-2003 X308 model at least, there is a wire from the switch (and the interior boot-lights) running underneath the right boot-lid hinge. OVer the years this wire can have been damaged or flexed too often; have a look; it is quite feasible to repair this yourself it you have DIY skills. Best to add a new piece of wire and allow for movement, but cable-tie is a bit out of the way. If you're worried you can still self diagnose and get a car electrician to fix it in minutes.
How do you remove gas tank on 1998 XJ8 wires inside fuel lines?
You take it to a certified Jaguar service center and put them to work. I would if I trusted them.
How do you check transmission fluid 1998 jaguar?
you don't have to check, top off, or change transmission fluid on a Jaguar. Their transmissions are manufactured "oiled for life".
You remove the licence plate. You poke a hooked coathanger wire into the bottom right slot and hook the a steel wire that runs above the slot. Pull hard enough to bend it. There's two in there- it might be necessary to try them both. After you get it open unscrew the carpet covering and unbend the wires and fix the key turning parts, etc. before closing the "boot" again.
This is the best way into an XJ8 stuck boot. Use a slim screwdriver through the right hand bottom licence plate hole. Hold the face of the screwdriver flat at a right angle and lever it gently to the right when you feel resistance. You will feel the internal rod springing back and hear the motor. If the boot still resists, press down on it as you lever the spot. The likely cause will be the wiring loom at the right hand boot hinge. You can lever off the plastic cover to reveal the loom but it will hard to spot any breakage. An auto electrician charged me £35 to fix mine.
How do you replace a temperature bulb for 2000 Jaguar XJ8?
There are 2 bulbs behind the display, purchase from Jaguar at around £5. Although the display is green the bulb is blue! To fit takes around 45 minutes. Take off gear selector surround and unscrew the housing, remove wood trim around gear selector up to heater, unscrew and take out radio then heater controls. Remove electrical multi clip, take off back of heater control (4 screws) replace blown bulb by turning bulb housing with a small screw driver. Refit is the opposite.
Jaguar wanted to charge £120, it is an easy job for the DIYer

Hcw do you change headlamps on a 2004 Jaguar XJ8?
It is simple for someone with DIY skills but will take a while to accomplish the first time. This procedure explains how to replace the Headlamp Units without removing the bumper cover.
1. Open hood and remove front Upper Shield. Held in-place by 6 plastic fasteners that are unscrewed partially and pulled.
2. Remove 2 Torque Screws holding the Grill, Air Deflector, and Bumper Cover in place.
3. Remove 2 Torque Screws (1 per side) mounting the fender Splash Guards to the bumper cover. (Screws located just below the bumper mounted turn-signals)
4. Pull out on Bumper Cover at the wheel wells. Bumper Cover is held-in-place by tabs, pull to remove. Keep watch on turn signal lamps, held-in-place by metal clips.
5. Remove top retaining clips for Bumper Cover, 2 per side.
6. Pull out on top portion of bumper cover till about 4 inches from headlamp units.
5. Remove 3 mounting bolts on each headlamp unit.
